There's got to be a kit to go from a GM bolt pattern to the ZF transmission.

I feel for your situation @RoverTide. I had the exact same issue right around the time you posted this thread. Ultimately, I decided to give it a shot. Just finished rebuilding the second head, valve trains put back together and ready to get the heads back on the block. Thus far, it's been an exercise in patience and a hell of a learning experience. Spent far more on the specialty tools than on parts, and obviously eating the labor. I am confident I'll get her back together though. The next few steps with the head install and timing chain will be the hardest part. Hopefully you'll find a buyer brave enough to give it a go.

Thanks, and good for you man! I wish I had your resolve. I thought about fixing it myself, but, I think the limiting factor for me, or what I keep telling myself anyway, was a lack of a garage space to work on it. It would have taken me months to get it done due to the lack of time I have right now, and I didn't want it sitting in the driveway (immobile) for that long. Hopefully there is another one in my future.. someday. Keep us posted on your progress!
