I have a question to the members of this forum who haven’t shown themselves to be miserable sacks of crap like that loser, mr redneck. Does he represent the views of the other members of this forum? I hope not & at least PaulLR3 is decent enough to speak up and show you’re not all massive d-bags like red. Thank you, PaulLR3.

Wow! Feisty over here on the new Disco5 page..

Sooo.. I've got a D5 in the garage right now.. Didn't buy it yet, but am on an extended "Kick the tires" event while the 4 gets some new injectors..

Such a very, very different truck.. Some things I've noted:

-It has a few fit and finish issues that new models have: Plastic A/B pillar covers rattling, a line here and there is a little off..

-Love that display. Instant radio selection, no 2 second delay on switching between things, better resolution.. A little buggy, but that's what updates are for..

-Finally got the LED interior lighting right..

-Looks small on the outside, feels big on the inside. Didn't investigate the 3rd row yet..

- The weight difference is very noticeable- I would dare call it nimble.. But strangely feels slower than my 5 liter..

If it were a BMW I'd give it 5 stars- it's the larger SUV they could never make despite their best efforts. One look underneath tells me this thing will leave the road with confidence..

All in all, I think the best was to look at it is as an evolution of the Discovery sport, with some soft hints from the LR4.. If you look at it as an evolution of the Disco/LR3/LR4 it's only going to make you frustrated..

Don't worry PaulLR3, I'm not selling the 4... It may be the last of the "safari" looking Rovers, which the dealer said they are buying back at book +10% if that tells you anything..

All right, go back to fighting- I'll let you know if I buy it..

Cheers everyone,

Mike

Totally agree Mike. It's not a replacement for an LR4. If you view the D5 in comparison to an X5, GL, XC90, or Q7 it's a winner. In my test drives, only the Q7 has better handling, but I can't get past the lack of a spare tire in the Q7.

We're keeping my wife's low mileage LR4 for a long time, but after adding ski season mileage to my LR4, I'll be ordering a D5 next spring. Maybe even an SVX, depending on what I'll owe the IRS at tax time.

Had another opportunity to take a D5 off road at the Overland Expo this past weekend. I took it out right after taking my LR4 on the same trail...wow, very light and responsive. Still think it's harder to see out the window and over the hood compared to my LR4 but this new D5 literally does most of the work for you on the trail. I also took out a full size range rover diesel...it was nice and comfortable and handled well, but far too large of a vehicle IMO. It also had some slipping issues since it did not have a locking rear diff. Anyhoo...I may not like the way the new D5 looks but it's rather fun off road. I can't wait to try the svx when it comes out!

Ah yes, massive d-bag. Says the whiny, butthurt, crybaby who just bought a churched up minivan and then looks for sympathy and validation from strangers on the internet.

As for your label of 'redneck', I'm not sure where you got that from, but it seems odd to be called that when coming from someone who lives "at the southern tip of the Appalachains (sic)." Nice spelling, by the way. Maybe you're secretly emo because YOU are the redneck? Just a theory of mine. As I've said, nothing you've assumed about me is correct, but don't let that get in the way of your narrative. Enjoy your Ford!

Red, you are definitely a massive d-bag. You seem to enjoy talking down to members of this group. I'm not sure what benefit it gets you. Does it make you feel superior? From what I can tell, nobody here cares much for your nastiness. Maybe you would find a better audience on the grouchy assholes forums. ***.
