How do you use your LR4? (Aside from commuting)

Umberto, I checked the link for their website, the US reseller and eBay. There are two models on eBay (actually they are the same) but one mentions that it comes with Power Magic Pro and the other one doesn't.
Do you happen to know what the power magic pro is? Also did you get the 16 or 32?

Also, my building owner actually owns a dashboard camera company - he deals with a company in Korea and his cameras are really cool. I could ask him for more information to check it out and maybe I can get a deal on a group buy?

Though, I really like the idea of the blackvue.

Sorry for derailing yet another thread... Axel, the Power Magic Pro is a device that allows you to feed permanent power to the camera (you need to connect it between your fuse box and the camera power cord), so it can keep recording in "Parking" mode when you are not running the engine, and it can be set to automatically turn off after a determined amount of hours or after sensing the battery voltage falling below a certain threshold - so you don't risk running the battery flat if you remain parked for days. If you don't get the Power Magic adapter, the camera will only turn on and record when your cigarette lighter feeds it juice - basically when the ignition is on in the case of the LR4. So, no parking mode recording basically.

I didn't get the Power Magic Pro since I have a dual battery setup in my car so I just hardwired both cameras (yes, I have one stuck on the rear window as well, in case someone rear ends me you know...) to the auxiliary battery instead, basically doing the same job as that adapter. But if you would like the camera to record events when you are parked, the Power Magic Pro may make sense.

Regarding 16 vs 32 GB, depends on the price difference. If it's only 20 bucks or so, go with the 32GB version (32 GB MicroSD cards can be had for about $20/25 on Amazon these days), lots more recording space.

I can recommend the wifi Cowon Autocapsule. I have one mounted and always on in my windshield. Looks like the Blackvue and Cowon are comparable. I know the Blackvue has a great rep overseas.

I have a Cowon AC1 (the non Wi-Fi model) on my rear window. From a pure video quality perspective, I'd say the Cowon is actually superior to the Blackvue overall. There are so many new players in the dash cam business - all of them seem to be obscure Korean or Chinese companies - that I wouldn't know what to recommend these days... It's only a matter of time before a big player, Sony, Panasonic or whatever, enters the arena, this is no longer a niche market.

I love that video, that is a GREAT reason to own an LR4. Everyone else is freaking out about a couple feet of water and you just cruise through it. Did you even raise the suspension?

I raised it, as I wasn't really sure how deep it would get on the left side of the road (although I had a pretty good idea looking at that stranded car), I doubt there was more than a foot, maybe 15", of standing water there. Note how considerate I was, slowing down so as not to shower my neighbors as I zipped by them. If I was by myself, instead of having the whole family in tow, I would have stopped to help out that poor family stranded in the Acura, since I happened to have a tow strap with me.

Did you catch a glimpse of the guy in the Audi R8 stopped on the right shoulder? That car has what, 3" of ground clearance on a good day? I wonder how long he had to wait there for the waters to recede... At least he was smart enough to stop, that would have been an expensive bath.

I probably would have tried to stop. My wife loves that goodwill ****. I also always carry a tow strap, shackles, compressor, jump cable, basic tools. LOL, no wonder my LR4 is so heavy.
