So, my new AMK compressor is due next week and, old and leaky as it is the old hitachi is still able to rise the LR3, so I was thinking to adapt it to the boot so that I can use it to inflate the tyres after airing down when off road.
Is this possible?? can I connect it to the 12v power outlet or how can this be done?

As long as there isn't internal circuitry to the pump that requires communication with the LR3 ECU for operation you should be able to do that. I don't think there is... I think it's all handled by the EAS Control Module which just receives signals from the temp and pressure sensors and then either does or does not send 12v to the compressor.

Basically, it looks like there are 8 wires to the compressor. Green and Black/Yellow stripe send the compressor temperature sensor data. Orange/Black stripe and Brown/Black stripe send the motor temperature sensor data. White/Black stripe and Blue/Black stripe send data to open the Exhaust valve. And finally... the two you want are the Black (ground) and Red/Brown stripe wires that provide 12v to the compressor motor.

These compressors are high pressure low volume pumps so just adapting it to run without a tank will take a rather long time to fill tires. You then will run into problems with the compressor overheating and failing in a short time.

I have a hose fitting coming off the EAS tank for just in case. It takes about 15 minutes to fill one 285/60 r18 tire from 22 psi to 40 psi and that is using the air reserve in the tank. Tiring to do all four tires is almost impossible from there because the temp sensors turn the compressor off.

WOW! That IS pretty low volume. I guess it makes sense when you think about how much air is really contained in each shock (i.e. not much). Thanks for the info.

alright, I thought it could easily inflate a tyre...

Well, it could, but you'd need to connect it to a tank to be filled, then from the tank to the tire.

I have a 2nd factory mounted in the starboard side on the factory brackets which is filled by an ARB compressor mounted in the engine bay with outlet there as well as one and a gauge at the port side rear cargo panel.

For me, the Hitachi simply would have been way too large for anywhere I'd want to put it hidden away.
