We just had our first issue with our 05 LR3. We we xmas shopping and the HDC fault popped up. After driving home 3 hours, we were slowing down to turn and the transmission fault came on, the cruise was disabled and the ride height dropped. After doing some investigating, i noticed that something had been on the console at some point in the trip and pressed the HDC button down, and the button was in fact stuck in the pressed possition. I was able to free it and it works properly.

I did a load test on the battery while it was fully charged and warm. A 10 sec load test showed 11.4v. Which i thought was adequate but is it? I also noticed several times that the nav screen went light and then darkened somewhat. Any ideas out there??

With an '05 your about due for battery replacement. My '05 developed HDC faults and when the battery was replaced under warranty all issues disappeared.

Ok...here is the fix! I have seen this issue on a few forums now with no answers. I changed the battery to a new Interstate. Still had the same faults show up. The fix (other than going to a dealer) is a soft reset done with the key. I turned the key on to the second setting until it did the system check, then turned the key off and removed it. Repeat 3 times, and on the 4th start it. I had to do it twice and it has been over a month and the faults haven't shown since! Worked for me anyway! Good luck!

just curious if you have your lights on auto? i had this occur this weekend as i was heading out on a bike ride early morning and noticed that my nav screen dimmed and then got bright. I think it was due to the lighting conditions tricking the light sensor to go dim and bright

It could also be a bad ride height sensor. I was getting alot of HDC faults and the dealer had to replace a ride height sensor.
