I was under the LR4 the other day and poking around and I noticed the fuel tank shield/skid plate looking rather rough. After poking it with my finger, it began to literally fall apart into pieces. Looks like I need a new one. Does anyone have a part number? The factory part looks to be made of poor quality metal(since the rest of the underbody is in decent shape) and I bet it is not cheap as an OEM part either. Curious also if there are any viable aftermarket options. Reading through old threads, does it also serve as a cradle for the tank itself so it's kind of important? Or is it something not to worry about? Thanks!

tactical4x4 have a tank skid plate that would actually work as a skid plate, not just a shield.

If you aren't rock crawling, the OE one is totally fine. They rot out when snow/salt/debris/etc washes up and sits on the top of the skid between the plastic tank and top (upper part) of the skid plate.

Thanks! Is it me or is this OE part WFN000014 super hard to find? Has it been replaced by a newer part number?

If you are rock crawling, the Tactical Rovers is a legit skid plate. Mine has the scars to prove it.

I remember the 1992 Isuzu Trooper. Sure glad that that one had a true skid plate over the gas tank.
My wife still gives me a hard time about that one - but that rock sure didn't look that big!!
