Has anyone who has done this conversion on a D1 posted a write up anywhere? Are there reliability issues? Though with my 96 at 160xxx any electric fan will probably outlast the engine. Do the benefits of the conversion outweigh the downsides?

Thanks,

shoot, I don't remember, I had a bad fan clutch and it was easier(read cheaper) to convert

Ebay - lincoln 2 speed fan 5000cfm (popular street rod) - 38amps on high - I removed after 6mos.$50?

Ebay- summit racing - twin 12in - 8amp ea. love 'em - (1) on 185deg. stat -- (1) on dash switch thru relay --- $75?

Switch is a double throw/center off.

I noticed a definate improvement of throttle response off idle, I believe it boosted my mpg,
and the engine does run smoother (bad clutch?)

I just removed existing fan & clutch & re-installed bolts

mounted fans behind radiator on (3) 1/4x1-1/2 alum bar stock.

luck,greg

Not know what is wrong with yours, it is hard to advise you, but you would do better with a good fan clutch and electric factory fans then trying to beat the system throwing in some after market fans that may not work with your temp sensors and or flow enough air.
