So I don't want to go buy a battery only to find out its the alternator. If anyone can steer me, that would be great.
I've had the 2005 LR3 about 8 weeks. It has 53K miles. It has an Interstate battery that is not marked for its production year.
Car has died 4 times total.
Twice, I had the radio on for maybe an hour and then it would not start. A jump got it going without a problem.
Yesterday, my wife drive it twice and said that it sounded weird when starting. I drove it later and I heard the starter click as it always does (once) and then a labored engine turn. I released the key, turned it again and and it started.
Today it won't start at all or turn over. I hear the click, but that is all. All my accessories are working.
I had it at a shop last week and they thought it was the overhead DVD draining juice and removed it. Obviously there is more to it. They claim to have tested the battery and alternator and said they were fine. I tend to trust them.
Typically, until now, after a jump, the car has started fine subsequently and been OK to start and drive for a couple of weeks between episodes.
Unfortunately I don't have a voltage meter. Or a ride to the battery store right now.
