Dash Cam Recommendations for the LR4?

Yes... okay, I call it a Rain Sensor. I did not know it had 12V of power up there by the rear view, though. That's pretty cool.

Any intel on how best to tap into those wires without breaking the sensor functionality? I assume there are at least 3 wires in there. (This is coming from someone who has fought to get my windshield replaced because the sensor was not reliable)

The post I linked at the start of this thread talks about splicing a wire into the overhead lights above the rearview mirror, which is 12V power.

That's what I've done. It's affected by the ignition, so it's only on when the car is on.

You should really look into umbertob's install instructions; should answer all of your questions. You can pull down the entire overhead lighting assembly to give you access to the wiring...it's more than the rain sensor (lighting, switches for sunroof, etc). You can just run wire(s) toward the front of the headliner and you can keep all of the wiring up there and not have to go into the fuse box.

I have this installed on my 3 cars that I have including my LR4 for about 2 years now. I have no issue and has a app were you can download all pictires you can take from it with the wireless bottom that is included with the camera. If it need a camera software upgrade it will download and installed directly to the camera without having to pull the memory card. Has an awesome definition on video as well on picture. And you can install it right on the side of the rain densor and you won't notice it. Here is the link.

I've been using the FalconZero for some time in mine, hard wired to 12v all the time. Works great, barely ever touch it or notice it. Is always running.

I like the look of this camera. Simplicity and capacitor option, over battery, makes a lot of sense. Most of the reviews are good but there are some sketchy negative ones (which I know are always there and are sometimes just idiots who didn't read manual). So I have one question...

Is the camera really "set it and forget it" and all the videos are saved to the memory card, which I assume records in a loop? (deleting oldest files as space is consumed to make room for new files). One of the negative reviews claims that files are not saved to the card unless you do this manually each time from the app. That would be ludicrous, so I'm guessing the reviewer is an idiot, but wanted to confirm.

If I get it, I'll probably get their newer mini3 version figuring any bugs in the mini2 have been addressed. It's twice the price, but if it's less hassle it's worth it.

Hi. Yes. You can configure it on the way you want. The app help you set the camera on many things like resolution, watch dog, it has many things including set it up as a loop recording or like a regular recorder were it stop recording when the memory is full. Also you can see the video and pictures on the same app as well real time. Also they got another one, M6 plus, were has built in gps so I have that one on my Lr4. The mini 2 I have is on the rear. So I have 2 cameras, one at front and one on the rear. They work very well. And it has loop recording as well.

I have the vision package on my 2010, it would be cool if there was a blackbox type option where it could record the feeds from the cameras onto a flash drive.

It would be cool, but the resolution of the vision assist digital cameras is barely passable for the touchscreen of our cars, I doubt it would be of any use when blown up on a computer monitor.
