Brake Pads

Yellow is higher performance than Green, but have more dust. From their FAQ's:

"Yellow compounds are a fantastic brake, probably our best but they are equal in dust to original parts and should not be chosen if a low dust pad is what you need. Our cleanest pads are Red Ceramic for sedans and Green 7000 series for SUV and light trucks."​

Red/ceramic and Green 7000 series are not available for the LR4. Choices are Ultimax (stock replacement), Greenstuff Street, Yellowstuff, or Orangestuff.

Their catalog shows 2 different part numbers for front brake pads, for all compounds, for 2010-2013 5.0L LR4. I can't find an explanation... see page 260-261.

I think they meant the Yellows have more dust compared to the Greens, which may still be less than OE/factory.

BTW, are your wheels silver or black? My LR4 has black wheels so it's hard to tell how much brake dust is generated.

I have stock silver wheels and i could attest that the yellowstuff brake dust is way less than the OEM pads. The OEM pads got the front wheels dark and dirty after about a week of driving. So far its been 3 weeks since my last wash and the wheels aren't that much dusty. Yellowstuff does have waaaaay less dust.

Around 25% better with the drilled rotors imho. Way less fade on long downhills.

deff an upgrade over OEM, but i agree with Fuji up there. Better with drilled rotors.

I forgot to add, when I replaced my brake pads, the rears exhibited significantly more wear than the front. In fact it was the rear sensor that set-off the warning light. The fronts had about 5mm of pad left, and both rears about 1mm. Is this a typical occurrence? I'm sure the rears being half the size of the front wear out quicker.

It's been typical in my experience that the rears go before the fronts on the LR4. I think I've read where it's the same for other people here.
