Anyone try the ceramic brembo pads that rockauto offers?

It's personal preference too at some point. I don't like pads with an excessive initial bite. I prefer a softer initial bite that gets stronger the more I push. I find this type of pads much easier to modulate in day to day driving. As long as the ultimate braking performance is not affected then all is ok. I would like to see some 60-0 stops on a LR4 comparing pads to get some real numbers.

i cant cope with brake dust in this day and age.

I don't like high-dust pads either, but I prefer safety over cosmetics. There are compounds with relatively light dust that perform well; usually with higher cost. Anyone know if LR4 pads are available in either Performance Friction carbon-metallic, or Porterfield carbon-Kevlar? Just curious.

As I mentioned earlier, the PO of our LR4 had the wheels painted/coated black. Dust problem solved. I don't mind the look on our silver LR4.

Agree 100%... and pedal feel is very, very subjective. I also prefer pads that have very linear modulation, but they're not easy to find, and may have other drawbacks (i.e., could be expensive and/or very dusty).

Disclaimer: I'm using OEM Ferodo pads and have no complaints about the performance, with black wheels so I don't know how much dust they generate.

Scientific testing requires expensive equipment; that can measure pounds of pressure applied to the brake pedal, along with deceleration G-forces.

Anything else is purely subjective. What one person thinks are great brakes, another may think are terrible brakes.

Agreed thats why im fine using ceramics over regular pads- odds are stopping power is no worse and cld be better despite the ceramics not “feeling” great to some

From prowling around the interwebs it appears that for a single hard stop from speed (ie. no fade involved or excessive heating) rotor/pad combos may have an effect of a few feet in ultimate stopping distance. Fancy pads and rotors are somewhat overkill on a basic sliding pin caliper that is found on our LR4s (piston on one side only). Monoblock calipers with pistons on both sides seem to benefit more from exotic brake pads/rotors.

Now if you tow, have bolted 1000 lbs of additional armour to your rig or subject your rig to constant steep mountainous grades etc I can see the benefit in increase cooling etc but for most who are easy on the brakes with the odd oh sh$@! brake stomp almost any rotor/pad combo will perform.

12 months later the EBC greens have been great, very little dust. nothing compared to oem pads.
