ycharlie, thanks for the link to the photos. They look great. Where did you mount the ballasts for the fog lights? Please let me know as I am not very impressed with the color of the Philips CV bulbs. I like the matching headlights look OR the yellow look like yours. The Philips CVs are somewhere in between, which doesn't look quite right to me.

Here's a few quick shots of my low beams installed...

Looks awesome!

I think you should definitely try to install the HIDS in the fogs - would look sweet. I tried it a bit, but could not figure out where to put the damn ballast.

I'm answering your PM........

put it behind the fog light housing, into the bumper. you dont need to stick it anywhere, it's got no where to go. much simpler install than the headlights.

ycharlie, sounds good. Thanks. So you did not actually attach the ballast to anything, it's just kind of crammed in there?

bush, that is basically it. it'll be easier with the headlights out so you can see where the ballast and ignitor goes. i think with the fog lights out you'll be able to see for yourself as there's only one place you can put it, which is further into the bumper instead of around the housing. there is no room around the housing.

Could probably wrap and tape it in some kind of packing foam to protect it and keep it from bouncing around.

That might be a good idea, but these ballasts can get a bit warm, so not sure you want to actually wrap it up? Or, maybe that's OK?

I am considering replacing the halogen fogs with an HID kit when my new 2013 LR4 arrives.

the ballast and ignitor are pretty bullet proof. besides, where it's going there isnt much room to bounce around. also heat is definitely something to look out for.

They are definitely strong! Having been inside that area to replace my fog-light bulbs, I can attest that the ballast won't bounce around much at all.

I think it is important to allow these ballasts to have good air circulation because they can get rather warm.
