I noticed my A/C compressor making more noise than usual when turning on the A/C.

Anyone here had to have their A/C compressor replaced ? Just wondering what the cost may be so I will not get quote shock if and when I have to take it in.

You may first want to have the freon level checked, if low your compressor can become noisy.

Could it be the damper or butterfly valves within the ductwork? Mine were pretty noisy when they got dusty. Hard to access (take apart glove box area dash), but easy to fix with some lithium spray grease.

Definetly the compressor making noise from under the hood. Drive way test confirmed. When switched on it sounds like a bearing slightly whining and changes pitch with the engine RPM. Switch the A/C off the the noise stops.

Will have it checked for freon pressure later this week. Hopefully it is just low. Don't think I have had it checked since I bought the thing new in 2005.

There is a TSB on this: TECLTB001032

The temperature mixing valve in the HVAC system under/behind the glovebox area needs lubricating.

Just wondering if anybody could share a good source for the TSB (free preferably)? Please excuse my ignorance if this is obvious.. relatively new to the Disco world.
