Considering the odd-LR behavior coming out of JLR lately I will not be surprised at all. They created a brand new engine factory, increased production staff and shifts for the massive SC V6 demand, as well as invested an incredible expense for the new engines to be shared for both Jaguar and Land Rover products and IMO it'd be very inefficient and bad business economics for them to produce this one engine for just one product.
You have a point, but we probably won't know until 2015 - hahaha! :)

Actually, Jaguar manufactures all the engines in house. And they still use the normally aspirated V8 in several of their models.

I'm starting to lean towards ordering the car now. I really feel like I need it, and would hate to find out the 2014's will arrive late for some reason.

As it is, if I can still order a 2013, I'll probably get it late August at the earliest, so I would not have too much overlap with the leased BMW. Also, the construction at my house will be over, so I won't have to deal with moving all these cars as the construction vehicles go in and out.

I sent an email to LR asking about how late one can order a 2013 or how early one can order a 2014. Fat chance I'll get a real response, but we'll see.

I would imagine if you order now, you would definitely get it by August. My LR4 arrived in about 10 weeks (2 weeks earlier than they anticipated). You are in a tough position because it's tough to really know (so many rumors and unknowns) when the 2014s will come out. Heck, remember the 2013s were out at the dealerships but the LR USA website wasn't updated until months later - hahaha! :)

Keep us posted - can't wait to hear more! :)

To my surprise, they replied asking for my phone number so they can speak to me and "research my situation further." I gave it to them. We'll see.

If I get some local dealer sales guy calling me I'll be pretty ******.

Keep us posted. If it is a local sales guy, I would imagine people on this forum know more than him/her. Hehehe! :)

Here are a few spy shots of a nearly undisguised 2014 Discovery 4. I dig the subtly redesigned front end, it looks very cool and ties the car better with the rest of their Range Rover lineup. Can't quite make out the new headlights with the light camo still on, but the grille "flows" very nicely between them.

Here is the text accompanying the photos, source: Auto Express, a UK publication so take the info contained with a pinch of salt. Here too, confirmation that a S/C V6 engine may indeed replace the current NA V8 (although how much power this V6 will generate seems to be generating a lot of confusion and conflicting info among magazines...)

Spy pictures of the virtually undisguised facelifted Land Rover Discovery ahead of its 2014 release date

Our spy photographers have caught a near-production version of the new facelifted 2014 Land Rover Discovery.

Although visually, it looks as if not much has changed, the biggest alterations are beneath the skin. The new 2014 model is ditching its naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 – although this wasn’t available in the UK – in place of a more frugal supercharged V6 unit.

Poised to get the supercharged 375bhp 3.0-litre V6 engine from the Jaguar F-Type, the new Discovery will boast superior performance while reducing CO2 emissions and fuel consumption. There is also the possibility this engine could be made available in the UK.

Because of its engine layout, the new Discovery is unlikely to get the nine-speed gearbox found in the Range Rover Evoque and is expected to stick with the eight-speed ZF gearbox from the current car.

Cosmetic changes include new LED strips like the ones on the new Range Rover. The grille has also been slightly modified, with elliptical cut-outs for the headlights. The interior is likely to get a new dashboard and steering wheel.

Prices for the 2014 Land Rover Discovery are expected to start around £38,000, with first deliveries being made in the first quarter of 2014.

I was in a dealership yesterday, and the guy I bought my vehicle from said they are really stretching the 13/14 lineup as long as they can. The next model will have the Supercharged V6, probably late next year (versus the summer roll-out).

I also noticed that most all Jaguars now have the turn knob gear shift. Some of the spy shots seem to have the same. It might be the selector for off-roading, though. I drove the Jaguar with the knob shifter and I can't say I'm a huge fan. It does clean up that area a bit, but it seems like a useless piece of electronics. If they do the turn knob, that means there will be paddles on the steering wheel. Pretty silly for an off-road vehicle.

Is my speculation correct, or are they sticking with the manual shifter?

Anyone know what color that is in the spyshots? That combo with the black pack looks sharp, imo.
