Third row has 2 cubbies (one on each side) and there are two glove boxes for those with a lot of kid movies. I have full controll of the DVD from the front, I just can't watch it when I am moving (stop, play, next chapter work moving)

Indeed, there are two fairly large cubbies in the third row / loadspace area, one on each side. On my 7-seat version the rear RH well formerly occupied by the 6-disc DVD changer - at least on my 2006 RRS, which has the RSE changer there - houses tools and the POS scissors jack instead. Control of DVD playback is limited while you are moving. As mentioned above, you can play, pause, stop, and move to next/previous chapter or track. However, you can't navigate onscreen menus (which is often how you start playback of a movie after you load it in a player) unless you are stationary and the image is displayed on the front monitor.

That stinks. On my Infiniti, people have figured out which wire tells the nav its moving and people add switches to that to enable changing settings on the fly. Anyone know if LR does a similar thing? Can you fake it out and have it think its not moving without adversely impacting nav?

No chance of an old fashioned speed wire on the LR4, everything's fiber optics-this and digital-that in these vehicles. Only solutions available are overpriced electronic modules from companies such as Nav-TV, a high tech version of the old speed wire trick. They work - if you are willing to pay through your nose for the convenience. Example: http://navtv.com/product/235/vtc-rr12.html

Umberto nice! Remember me from the RRS forum? I'm thinking about switching to an LR4 too. Love your color combo and the love the black package.

Hi Texas! Good to see you here. I still own my beloved 06 Sport, still debating whether to keep it as my off-road "toy" or sell it, I really don't have the room to store it at my house so for now it's sitting here in my warehouse looking a bit sad... I got 209K miles on her, so she looks a bit tired, too.

Truth is, I can't let go of her. Besides still being the sexiest looking SUV out there (to my eyes, anyway) that car has been so much fun and has taken me so many amazing places. However, to be honest after being behind the wheel of my new LR4 for a couple of weeks, the RRS feels very low-rent by comparison, and even the sporty "cocoon" feel behind the wheel suddenly seems overrated, maybe I am just getting old but the LR4 is definitely no slouch, and the 5-liter engine so much more powerful and smooth compared to the 4.4. Can't remember if you are coming off a Supercharged, but the LR4 pulls like a freight train at any speed, I love it. The interior fit and finish of the 2010+ is on a different planet, as you know. And the extra room for kids and stuff, well, that's why I am here.

I have already started the inevitable process of beefing up the LR4, just in case, you know. 18" Comps on the way from the UK, rock sliders and fuel tank / trans plates ordered from Tactical Rovers... Don't tell my wife.

Wow, so you got the 18" Comps on their way - that's awesome! :) I am jealous.

You can definitely sell your 19" wheels (since they are black) for a good price!!!

Take some photos when you get it installed - I can't wait.

Hopefully your wife won't notice the new editions - haha! :) I'm lucky, in my world I make all the decisions and my wife likes it that way.

Not quite on the way yet, it takes 3 weeks to manufacture them in black... They stock Anthracite grey only in the UK, but that wouldn't work with my car's "Black pack" theme, obviously. I'll wait... I'm keeping the black stock 19s as "spare" set for the road, I really like the way they look and, say what you will about the crappy factory Conti tires, they are whisper quiet on the road. Plus, I will need those black hub caps to stick onto the Comps when they show up!

Hey Umberto,

Sounds great. I think it's a great idea to keep your stock wheels and use them as a spare set for the road. I actually thought the Contis were great on the road, for sure, but just crappy off road. As far as the black hub caps, you can actually order them from eBay via the UK - they sell the OEM ones for about $30-$40 for a set. I bought them for my wheels after I powder coated them black.

Do you think the Compomotive wheels will be too matte for the rest of your trim? Since I did all my trim myself (or had a paint shop do it), I went with matte black with about a 30% satin. The OEM black trim is a bit glossy.

I can't wait to see your new wheels!!! I love your truck..... I am going with the black pack for my next LR4, and even toying with the idea of red as well - or white.

-David
