So I had the chance this past week to buy a '14 LR4 LUX that had been previously ordered, had just arrived and was sitting on the dealership floor. It was loaded up including Rear Entertainment (which we don't need). It also had the 20" diamond-turned wheels (a $3K upgrade). I told them I didn't want the wheels so they sold it to someone else. No worries. I don't want to pay an extra $3K for something I would just take off and replace simply to get the truck 3-4 months earlier.

But it got me wondering about why people would put 20" wheels on an LR4 4. Wouldn't they be a pain in the neck when you go off road?

They would be a pain in the neck but at the same time there's wider selection of AT tires in 20.
You also need to keep in mind that most people do NOT go off-road so it will not bother them.

Lots of MT's come in 20's. Just depends on your desired outcome. :proud:

Next weekend. Headed to Southern VT for this: http://www.vermontoverland.com/vowc/

I'll be at Winter Romp in Maine this weekend but with my d-90. You should consider coming to one (or both :proud:).

I really would love to make it but as mentioned I don't have any protection yet so I'm a little worried about messing something up...
I've been told that Winter Romp could be handled without but what about the VT overland event?

The VT event can be wheeled or watched without. I was planning to bring my toddlers for the day on Saturday if the temps aren't too cold and just drive the fields, and watch the action with them. Test the truck a little more.

You can definitely drive Romp as is. A dealer LR4 was there in stock form last year. A few of the trails are a no-go (deep icey water, etc) but much of the terrain is open and good.

It's very tempting. I would need to get a tire for my fifth wheel and small first aid kit as I haven't finished mine yet...
As far as VT, will you register for it or just go like this (as you will not take part in the event).
