Disco 1 Non-starter
Sounds like the spider alarm has gone bad. I believe there is a way to bypass it completely, but dang that has been a while. I am sure a google search will get you there as well. I would also try locking and unlocking the door with the key 3 times to see if it resets. -

I am presuming you are dealing with a 94/95 Disco I since it doesn't sound like you are OBDII. You say it won't turn over, but I am going to assume it turns over, but just doesn't fire. If you were running rich you may have melted the CATs this will cause the engine not to run as well. Have... -

Bonnet warning light on
Normally for a bonnet error I would say a bad switch, but with your other error happen as well, it sounds like a water issue in either an ECU or some corrosion in some wiring. Either way not an easy fix.- joey

Unless I am mistaken you can get it cheaper than $8k as long as it hasn't tore anything up yet, you may even get a used engine for less. But with that said, if you like it, fix it. If you feel it is time to put it out to pasture, that is always an option.- joey
