    Combat Rovers...and others

If I'm not mistaken, that white LR3 looks like a springer to me. Notice the clear rear quarter windows....a lot like mine.

    I'm selling the Coiler

Bittersweet news. The LR3 is sold, but the new buyer is super cool, and has promised to use it in the same manner my family has. He's off to a good start, he's got an over night off road trip scheduled this weekend!

    used car hunt...

Getting a CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) is probably going to cost a bit more up front, but be worth it, because it gives you a bit more time to have the little things fixed that you might notice in the first year or two of ownership. These are not appliances like Toyotas, but they are actually...

    Headlight bulb replacement

I replaced both of my low beam bulbs with H7 sized HID's. They plugged right into my existing harness (well, the pigtail from the ballast module plugged into the existing harness). Best $300 I ever spent. There is a thread on hear about 6 months ago with specific info.

    Constant 12v power

Sorry, most of the accessory power is key only. Except for the seats in your year of LR3. If you were handy with some splicing, maybe you could jury rig something with that, but it would be easier just to run a cable to the battery, and won't muck with your seats and memory or warranty on...

    Problems With the LR3

Actually, that is a pretty darn truthful answer from that apparently knowledgeable sales rep. Land Rover DID change the assembly. But its not a recall item, only a TSB item invoked when the customer complains.

    Where can I get an Aux Jack/Panel for a 2005 LR3?

I'm not exactly sure because I didn't do the work myself, but I went to a good stereo shop and said, I want to connect my iPhone to this thing!. they ran a connector (that powers it and connects to the bottom of the iPhone/iPod to the back of the headunit and plugged it in somehow. I use the...

    Where can I get an Aux Jack/Panel for a 2005 LR3?

What do you want to use the AUX jack for? IF its for iPod input, it doesn't work all that well. The signal source is damped down to the point were many are dissatisfied with it. Best to plug an AUX cord directly into the back of the headunit (if you are trying to run an iPod or iPhone).

    strange PING

I can't identify this from your description. But one thing you could look at, as unlikely as it may be, is the bottom rear bushing on the front a-arms. If the bushing is thrashed, perhaps is moving enough to make a metal to metal contact sound.

    Today's Ride

Its unlikely that you broke a pad sensor. They just wear down, they are not really in a position to be broken. However, it could be gunked up with mud?

    What are your thoughts?

The STT is a pretty good tire for the kind of mud you are describing, but it's quite a commitment and sacrifice for a daily commuter tire.

    Suggested LR3 Mods??

Sorry to hear that. It never fails to amaze me that people accept the unbelievably bad image quality PhotoBucket serves up. There are so many better options! Try PBase or SmugMug for starters, or Flickr! But yes, we can see your images now, fuzzy and overly compressed as they may be. I am not...

    I'm selling the Coiler

Indeed. The Jeep is fun and phenomenally capable, but no where near as versatile as the LR3. We just did a trip to Monache Meadows in the Armada, which is rated "4x4 Jeep Trail, Moderate" by the national forest service, and it did okay... but we had to tip toe through with great care and at...

    I'm selling the Coiler

LOL, the only vehicle I actually own is the LR3. My wife has an Armada as a company car, and she has a Jeep also, under a separate arrangement. I will be replacing the LR3 with an econobox of some sort. My sole purpose and need is to save my monthly expenditures to compensate for a loss of...

    Sliders

LOL, only if you were were in off road mode with 2" lifted rods :-) Most automotive doors have a curved edge to them, and stick out farther at the "belt line" than they do at the top and bottom, thus, the stand off tubes don't really help against door dings...but they work great against rocks...

Thanks DuckDive. I was sitting in the passenger seat of my truck this afternoon, giving a test drive to an FJ Cruiser owner, just gushing about all the features and coolness of the LR3, and showing the person photos from my iPhone, and it just solidified how much I love this truck. I can't...

Where to find LR3's in wrecking yards???

Man, looking at the roof, I'm guessing a seriously fast collision with a telephone pole.

    Sliders

I'm not sure I agree. It is my opinion that the point of the the Option 3's is to slide over items a bit better, due to the solid plating. It would not benefit someone standing on top of the tube, unless perhaps you are wearing 3" heals, and position your foot just so. The choice between the...
