Someone explain how to use a recovery strap please.

The best strap is the 3/4" Yanker by Viking, However, for our class of vehicle, a 3"x30', 30,000 lbs recovery strap is more typical and ARB makes the best one. Use 3/4" shackles to secure the strap to the front or rear recovery point on the LR3. A 3/4" shackle has the following...

Did the issues start when the new battery was installed? Is it providing enough juice? what battery did you have put in?

Battery dead after off road for 18 months

Don't JUST idle it. You need to drive it around to increase the amount of current generated by the alternator into the battery. Idling by itself is insufficient.

Battery dead after off road for 18 months

That's interesting! I always wondered about the terminology of Generator verses Alternator. I thanks Mike

    2005 LR3 Location for OBD2 Port

You can plug an OBDII reader into the LR3 (under the steering wheel panel), but there is not much the on board computer will let a reader do. Land Rover would prefer you use a $15,000 laptop IDS computer....

Battery dead after off road for 18 months

Also, letting the battery charge while the truck is idling in the driveway is actually not going to work. You need to be driving the motor at higher RPM's to generate enough current to charge up the battery. Next time, drive around the neighborhood a few times for the same amount of time, and...

You'd have to check the manual, but I am pretty sure that is on purpose, and its to facilitate loading. I had a buddy program his key fob to do that....

Magnaflow Exhaust in the mail, what you wanta know?

I doubt it would be louder than their on-road system. The mufffler is considerably upstream of the rear axle. The only real difference in the systems would be the final pipe routing behind the bumper

Got bad news, tell me it's not so!

Its probably easier to start from the interior inside, poke through, then pull it from the engine bay. Depends on your connectors. I always put the connector on last, and feed the wires through from the interior. To improve access under the dash, the panel directly under the steering wheel...

Got bad news, tell me it's not so!

Yes, that's it exactly. Poke as small a hole as possible, then seal it afterward's with black silicone. Be sure the wire is as far from the steering column as possible, and routed in such as way as to not foul it it.

Got bad news, tell me it's not so!

THe hard way is in the wiring loom grommet above the dead pedal (to the left of the brake pedal). On the engine bay side, this is under the master brake cylinder. The easy way is through the grommet for the steering column.

Constant power to nav draining battery?

Even though its a Land Rover repair shop (good for you btw!), I doubt they understand the LR3's battery sensitivity. Most cars will work fine with a battery kicking out 12 amps, and that's probably what they are used to. The LR3 needs more. If the battery is not in peak performance, it throws...

Constant power to nav draining battery?

Or a bad battery. Your LR3 is right in the life cycle of needing a new battery.

Automotive Dark Ages and the new LR4

Did you see what the CTS-V did recently? 7:59, driven in auto. Wow! Wow! KWlr3. Great post. I feel your pain, and to be honest, I think you are right, but not totally. I think there will always be some options. Don't forget, you can still buy motorcycles like these: Royal Enfield...

    Do I have fog lights?

The rotary knob that turns on the head lights. Pull it out. It has one or two detents depending on your options. The furthest out position turns on the supplemental rear lights that are brighter than the standard lights, and thus are called rear fog lights

    Do I have fog lights?

Yes, the rear fog lights are standard across the board on the RRS and LR3. Just pull (lightly) all the way out on the light switch. You'll see the idiot light come on on the dash.

    John Bull Trail Run 10/10

Here is a good video of John Bull, shot by some Toyota guys in beefed up 4Runners (and one FJ) with enormous 35" tires, still struggling through the trail. The LR3's traction control is SO MUCH better than Toyota's A-Trac system. Its remarkable! http://www.vimeo.com/1427993

    Sliders opt 2 slims

I did initially, and it was a heck of a racket. Aluminum plating is quite good at pretending to be a musical instrument designed by the devil himself. A few heavy duty stainless steel washers (4 each bolt) to hold the plate off the exhaust was the fix for that. Worked great, made the noise...
