    Blown Head gaskets

Unfortunately, these things aren't as simple as just replacing the head gaskets. A few of us have gone through rebuilding overheated engines and at minimum you'd need to get the heads re-surfaced. However, you most likely also have the headbolt threads re-tapped on the block as the threads tend...

What should I strip off this LR3 for spare parts for my LR4?

Good call on the wheels! I was thinking the same about the hitch and possibly the wiring harness, I'll try to stop by today before those goodies get picked.

What should I strip off this LR3 for spare parts for my LR4?

This 2006 Beauty just showed up at my local U-Pull junk yard this evening - anything worth while to pull for spare parts? Surprised this thing is at a junk yard, seems to be in great shape cosmetically.

Only 5 quarts of oil drained second oil change in a row (also… drain plug?)

Maybe you have a slowly seeping valve cover? I have the issue, waiting for my next oil change interval to replace it on the passenger bank. My leak does leave a few drips of oil on the ground here and there but its mostly leaking from the back, which basically avoids the exhaust and drips...

    Backup Camera Retrofit

I have some additional feedback as I've used the camera now for a week. There are a couple of additional quirks that's I'm not crazy about 1-The image is a bit off center as it replaces the right upper tailgate handle light which is still left of center, great for esthetics but the image is a...

5.0 V8 Fueling and Efficiency Questions

I've been keeping an eye on the live MPG lately and I wouldn't be surprised if I got between 20-23 driving straight through to empty on a relatively flat highway... but just like you, I've been enjoying the power of the 5.0L V8 a little too much, she moves pretty quick for a rig this size/weight.

5.0 V8 Fueling and Efficiency Questions

Did you notice a difference on the higher octane go-juice?

5.0 V8 Fueling and Efficiency Questions

Nah, just a bad design. I saw my old tensioner and guides, the steal pin on the tensioner almost wore right through the aluminum guide, perhaps more frequent oil change intervals would help but I don't think fuel quality has anything to do with it.

Did you adjust the tire size in GAP or is the speedo keying off the OEM?

    New (to me) 2012 LR4 5.0

Looks stock to me, I also just went through this entire process of replacing all of the drivetrain fluids and transmission pan/filter. I found that RMEuropean had the best prices for fluids, they have all of them from the diffs, transmission to transfer case. You can do either LR branded or OE...

    New (to me) 2012 LR4 5.0

Nice rig and welcome to the forum! Check out Merriam LR out of Kansas. I found them to generally have the best prices for OEM parts, online ordering only and it's best to order everything at once to cut down on shipping costs. https://www.landrovermerriamparts.com/

    Backup Camera Retrofit

Got this camera kit: FEELDO Car Reverse Rear View Camera for Land Rover/Freelander 2/Discovery 3 4/Range Rover Sport https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073XLJF9X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_N5A6E88RXGW8N5MZTPK3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Major PITA to install as there are no instructions, it needs modifying or...

    ENGINE SHOT

Sounds like whatever the issue was, it is or should be covered under warrant even if that means engine replacement. Too much of a coincidence that the motor needs to be replaced 400 miles after a timing chain job with only 54k miles on the clock.

Just exceeded warranty, where is everyone buying oil and Filters from to perform fluid change

I have a 2010 with the V8 which calls for 5w20 but I found that the best source for the Castro Edge oil is Walmart, goes for $21-$24 a 5qt jug. As for the filters, Amazon has been a great source for OEM/Mahle filters - don't forget to change your air filter, spark plugs, diff/transfer case and...

This one is OOS but I found another one on Amazon that works with the existing wiring someone else ran. Hopefully it'll be a fairly basic plug and play

5.0 V8 Fueling and Efficiency Questions

I've heard that before but didnt know how that applies, whether mid-grade (89) is alright, but then again I'm also not super keen at saving a few bucks at the pump and potentially have a major issue down the line. We're at a minimum of 5000' of elevation

    Backup Camera Retrofit

Has anyone tackled a backup camera retrofit lately? Seems as though my LR4 has aftermarket wiring for a backup camera, I can enable the feature using my GAP tool, just want to see if anyone has any tricks or tips on the install and the type of camera to use.

5.0 V8 Fueling and Efficiency Questions

Question for all of you 5.0 V8 owners out there: Is everyone putting in premium in their whips or is anyone using mid grade without any issues? Also, what is your average fuel efficiency? This question stem last from deciding whether I send my injectors in for servicing. I'm averaging about...

    Replacement engine

These 5.0 V8 replacement engine prices seem to be rediculously high at the moment, 10k for a remanufactured engine also seems high since 10-13 LR4's with about 120k go for about 13-16k, well at least in my area. But if you're set on a rebuild, I would suggest getting a used motor and rebuilding...

Steal of a deal on an LR4 with issues

A few updates: Replaced all of the drive train fluids: Front and rear diffs, transfer case and the transmission fluid including replacing the pan with a replaceable filter (the BritPart kit from Atlantic British) - thanks for the link to that transmission post! My only gripe with the Brit parts...

Steal of a deal on an LR4 with issues

I have an open diff on the back, my understanding is that its the same gear oil as the front in this case.
