Where is my coolant going??
+1 on the combustion leak test. Mine was losing coolant, had no visible leaks, held pressure, no white smoke from the exhaust... If you can't find coolant puddles in the engine or on the ground, rule out a blown head gasket or cracked head before proceeding with any further diagnostics. -
Coolant leak & collapsed top hose when cold?
I know I sound like a broken record, but test for exhaust gases in coolant before doing anything else. Don't waste any money or time until you rule out head gasket issues. -

FWIW, I bought the pressure tester tool from HF as well.. Had to return it because it was so poorly made and would not maintain a seal. I ended up renting one from O'reilly auto parts that had metal adapters. Keep us posted on how it goes. -

Depends on why the coolant is leaking in the engine area... I know of 2 scenarios: 1. The Y-pipe, Crossover pipe, or other hoses and connections failed purely because they got brittle and cracked due to heat cycles, or 2. the head gasket has failed and created too much pressure for the plastic... -

What motor? V8 or SC V6? Video 2 has the best audio, but its still tough to tell. Does it only happen under load? May try to post some videos of the engine bay with someone else working the accelerator. -

Thanks, and good for you man! I wish I had your resolve. I thought about fixing it myself, but, I think the limiting factor for me, or what I keep telling myself anyway, was a lack of a garage space to work on it. It would have taken me months to get it done due to the lack of time I have... -

Sold it to someone (basically for parts) that was going to attempt to fix it. Came real close to putting a reman engine in it for $10k, but ultimately decided to cut my losses. Stress levels have never been lower. -

This is one of several reasons why I chose not to put a new motor in mine.... Too many "while the patient is on the table" moments could easily double the cost. Look forward to watching your progress. Love that transmission hoist. -

I was very close to putting a new motor in it. Unfortunately, a new motor does not mean you will have a trouble-free vehicle... and dealing with the non-motor related issues after spending the money on a new motor was not something I was willing to do. -
Check engine light on
Your battery in good shape? When I would work on mine, sometimes the battery would get low and throw these types of faults initially. After running it for a little while, the faults would eventually clear. -

I pulled the two in the engine compartment in the fuse box next to the battery. Both had the gas pump symbol. One is a relay and the other is a fuse. -

I can't imagine it went 40k without an oil change. I would assume there was at least one in that time period that wasn't reported to carfax. Certainly, none of the DIY work on my cars will be reported to carfax. -

It could just be a blend door issue. From limited experience with replacing blend door motors, I believe if the blend door that closes the heater core off when the ac is on, doesn't close all the way, then you will get heat mixed with the cold air. I had this issue on an F150 and a Suburban...
