try lifting up on the trailer ball while turning the knob etc. Worked for me after i left mine in for a while (during which was rear-ended, twice, no damage to the lr though) If not try just moving it around a bit or try "persuading" it.

Finally gave it another go last night....no dice. Can't get the thing off.
Orange is exposed and the green knob is turned fully (the extra 90+ degrees you get by unlocking it with the key).
I'll try it with the hitch in as someone else suggested and bang on it some more. It is such a stupid system, really. Taking the hitch out, when stuck, is a two handed job. But, you have to have your right hand on that stupid little green knob which doesn't leave you much mobility with your left arm to work over the receiver like the salty ***** that it is.

Yeah same thing that happened to mine. I was scared to tow anything with it, because of the orange being exposed. Let us know what happens.

I punted and had the dealer do it. I was taking it in for service anyway, am under extended warranty, and commented that my hitch receiver is stuck. They got it out and lubed it up.
When I pick the car up I'll ask if there was any trick to getting it out. Maybe they use two people or have a pry bar they stick in the receiver just for this purpose?

The service tech hit it with a hammer (the persuader) and it came out. LOL

I had the same problem once. Referred to the manual about the position of the lock. Next , I gave it a good rap on the side with a rubber mallet. Voila, it dropped into my hand. No dirt or anything else to bind. I suspect it was just lodged by pressure alone from trailering.

BP Utah has a hitch key replacement set that doesn't have the folding key. I cut down my handle so I don't need the key and keep it in the back of the truck.

Mine stuck too. Used the great persuader and lubed it up but still stuck. These plug in receivers are the most ridiculous, unnecessary, expensive POS LR have come up with. I am astounded this "design idea" passed the review stage. What with electric handbrake, rusty space saver spare wheels.... the boyz have lost their way.
I am sure it is possible to maintain the nice driving dynamic and make it maintainable and build it to last. LR are frustrating...
