Hey guys,
I'm looking at this 2006 LR3 and and I wanted to see if you guys could check out the pics to see if everything looks likes normal wear and tear. Most of them are from under body rust spots but I put a few interior ones also. Let me know what you think and if you see anything that I should try to get the dealer to fix. The link is to photobucket.

Thanks

Yes - Normal for New York, Michigan, etc...take it to a dealer in California and they would flip. My brother moved to LA and the toyota there dealer wanted to replace the entire drive train on a 2007 4runner. Thought he was driving it in the ocean!

Well I live in Alabama but the LR3 was a leased one from Wisconsin, so I guess its normal.

I have an '05 with close to 80K on it, a lot of beach driving, and live in a state where they salt the roads. Mine doesn't look as bad as those photos. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of weld rust but I'd say overall 50% of what you show in those photos.

The previous owner either lived through a lot of salty winter driving or he took it on the beach and never rinsed the belly afterwards.

I suppose the message from the replies is don't be too concerned. W/ only 27K maybe it sat in place for a long time which could be worse then frequent freshwater puddle rinses. I dunno...

Spray the entire undercarriage with rust inhibitor, use two whole cans. I have used several brands that I buy from West Marine. The best (whose name I can't recall, dah??) comes in a tall silver can with blue letters and is label "Rust Inhibitor". It costs about $18 or $19 a can. This will do three things; virtually stop all future rest, keep the undercarriage looking shiny black and new, and the best part, the spray is wax based and the overspray that lands on the exhaust will burn off and will give the entire vehicle a "new car smell". Works like magic, has people thinking my '05 is brand new.

Good to hear.

Is there anything we shouldn't get this on? (Any danger of over-spray hitting rubber/plastic parts?)
