Tires Tires Tires - Oh What To Do?

The only problem with TireRack is that they do not sell many tires that fit the LR3 (like Nitto's and Coopers, etc...)

Nathan, you list the General Grabber AT2 as being available in a 19" size, but I do not see that shown in their spec sheets....???

I also replaced the stock 18" rims with the 19" RRS rims (at my wife's insistence). I fitted them with the Michelin Sychrones 4X4 extra load tires and love them. If you do any off-roading at all I would not suggest larger rims than 19", but I am guessing your LR3 doesn't see much dirt. Actually, if you insist on putting 20 -22" rims on your truck do the right thing, save your LR3 from the indignity, sell it and buy a Hummer H2.

That hurts. No one is institing anything. Nothing wrong with 20 or 22's....they come on Range Rovers. Stop hating.

Good point - I'm surprised they don't carry Cooper and Nitto. Both are fairly common tires, especially with enthusiasts (both car and truck).

BTW - I believe I've said it before, but I'll say it again - great list on your site.

My local tire dealer (AL, USA) told me last week the Cooper Xeon LTZs were ONLY available through discounttire.com for another 6 months. Went with the BFG AT/KO in 265/65R18 Load Range E because they were available locally. His price was $30 USD UNDER the delivered tirerack.com price including taxes, installation, lifetime balance. flat repair, and rotation. All I have to do now is explain to his "tire experts" that this isn't a Chevy Pickup!!

I was tired of the poor ride and noise from the OEM Goodyears. Because I live in Germany and didn't want to spend an arm/leg on local economy, I used Tirerack and purchased Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow for my LR3 HSE. They've got about 3K miles in snow, ice, rain and normal conditions and have been fantastic. They're also only $193 per tire which helped this Airman's budget.

Looking at other forums that have mainly European folks on it, the Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow seems to be a very popular choice for those in the snow belt. Keep us up-to-date on what you think of them.
