Hello everyone. I'm in going through the timing chain service and got to the point where I'm to torque the oil suction tube to 10Nm. I blindly began to torque what I thought was the screw that holds to suction tube in place and heard a snap. Looking at what I was tightening I see it was something other. Can anyone help me identify what this part is and whether now that the bottom portion of the plastic is broken if I need to replace this or snug it up and pray it doesn't come apart?

Please note there is condensation on the engine as I'm working in an unheated barn and winter decided to give us a warm 55 degree day.

Thank you in advance!

Looks like an oil passage plug.
I would replace it.
Probably not available from Land Rover.
We have some used engines here at work. I can snag you one.

I looked at a couple engines here. Both have a steel ball in that port.
The hunt continues....

As a last resort. You can put a flat washer on the bolt. Also use Loctite on the bolt.

Thank you very much for the help... I'm not finding any info online. So, I have a strange feeling this will the approach I take. If you had to guess, what type of torque would one apply to this screw? Thinking back on the feel of this screw it was no where close to 10Nm as it cracked after two turns of the ratchet.

You are too cool. Pretty much everyone on this forum owes you the beverage of your choice when you’re in their neck of the woods. Thank you sincerely for contributing so much knowledge and generosity, @Rover Range !

8 to 10Nm is about right.
I think the plastic is just brittle.
