When mine were fitted, they placed the weights on the inside of the rims, specifically to avoid the calipers. This seems to be the best way of balancing these wheels to avoid caliper clearance issues.
In fact as soon as Dean at AJS (who fitted them) saw the Compos as they were unboxed, he referred to them as "paint strippers" on account of them tending to strip the paint off the rims when they get muddy/gritty between the calipers and the wheel.
