You will see Mercedes up the number of diesels in the near future. When I was in Moab early in July, the parking lot of the motel we stayed at had 32 Mercedes cars in it. Everything ranging from SLK roadster replacements to the big S class sedans. There were prototypes of the ML, SLK and one other. I snapped a couple of pictures of heavily disquised MLs in body cladding and car covers for overnight storage. The covers had locks on them too.
I toured around the parking lot and everything that wasn't a prototype was a diesel. Even the C, E and S class sedans. I was lucky enough to talk to a group of German engineers that morning. They were in Death Valley conducting desert/hi temp testing there for a week and were on thier way to Denver over the next few days. On the way to Denver they were going to do hi-altitude testing in Colorado.
For a automotive enthusiast as my self, it was a great morning to be in Moab to see all the hardware and talk to the engineers.
I sure wish that LR would bring a diesel to the US, I think they would sure have a homerun with the LR4 buring oil.
