Wow, tough crowd. Being a newbie, he may not know what is even out there. My first question is how serious of off-roading are you planning, on a scale of 1-5 or 1-10?

I agree with Panzerknacker, get some experience on easy trails if you don't have any.

But Prior to that, recovery gear is a must. Then as you progress, my recommendation is body protection. Simply because better tires will get you into places that can get you into more trouble and if you want to keep your rig looking nice, protect it BEFORE you need that protection. If I had a dime for every time someone said "I wish I had protected____", I'd own more than just one LR3. I am one of those, but in another vehicle.

The first body protection mod you should look at is rock sliders. They protect your rocker panels below the doors. That area is quite vulnerable. You might think about a serious front bumper. I like the ARB. From there, keep an eye out for what others have and start researching.

Now what I need is some body protection from the people who open their doors into mine in the parking lots... Just found a big old dent with white paint on my rear passenger door.

http://www.roverparts.com/ has a lot of parts.

http://johnsonrods.com/ has the lift kit. There is a forum member that makes them as well I forget the name off the top of my head.

http://offroving.com/ has sliders and off road instructions.

This is so frustrating to me. People don't own up anymore. I try to get my wife to park away from the crowds, but she won't, especially now being pregnant. I am waiting for the day...

well. I think for some truck accessories, it is better to browse the net first before buying and also, it is better to see the item first hand before purchasing it. Anyways, this is what I did for my top accessory for my landrover. The rack fits perfectly. :)
