I'm sure you heard **** Land Rover will introduce a new 9-speed ZF tranny at Geneva.

I wonder if they will implement this before the 2015 model. My guess is no, but if it improves fuel economy & performance substantially, then perhaps it makes sense to take the chance.

It would be nice if they could provide the US market with the 8-speed that's already fitted to the Discovery 4 and also include the updated tranmission command control knob that rises up from the center console... yum.

As long as they stick to the current petrol V8 engine in North America, I think there is no chance of getting a new transmission, the 6-speed seems perfectly fine with our engine. Diesel LR4s over in Europe are already up to 8... Who needs 9 speeds, really? Why not 12, or 20? Imagine the fuel economy then.

I don't like the Jag pop up shifter. Too gimmicky.

I may agree with you on this one. Two round knobs (transmision and traction control)?? Don't know about that.

Not sure if it is gimmicky, but the shifter that's in the LR4 now, isn't a design masterpiece either - it looks like a 9-iron with a vinyl mitten on it. It would look better if that shaft was covered with leather. It also gets in my way when I want to ghost-ride-the-whip.
