What's up with this guy's grill?

Thanks morrisdl. Yup, that is exactly the one from DAVEW that I saw too.

Here is another similar setup from bigcarpschaser on the D3 site:

Those sure so look nice, but Ill keep my a-frame bar. It stopped a deer at 40mph last month with zero damage to the truck. Well I broke a plastic clip at the top of the a-frame bar and lost a bolt cap, but those are not individually order able items, so zero $ repair bill. The deer seemed to really appreciate the padded bar too. He bounced off and ran away. Hopefully learned his lesson.

You hit a deer at 40 mph in a 5800 lb vehicle and it lived to tell about it?

Hey...says a lot about the A-Frame, which most people dismiss as purely cosmetic.

Don't think the deer could appreciate the padding at 40mph... thats A LOT of momentum

But anyway...

That's pretty sweet the truck is fine (and you too for that matter)

I, for one, feel safer, even if I don't have the A-Frame.

That foam padding has to help. The deer was tossed about 15 feet, got up and ran away. I figured the padding must be some euro pedestrian friendly thing. It definitely saved my insurance company from buying a new grill, lights, and possibly bumper and hood.

That's exactly what the padding is for, but I can't believe it got up after getting hit at 40Mph! I don't think a pedestrian would have.

Hmmm. I like the deer story. Could be sufficient cover to convince the wifey that a new A-frame and driving light kit was a necessity ;)

Pedestrian friendly it is , well at least for now ,but that might change pretty soon . EU is working on some kind of new regulation prohibiting front bumper protection and light grills for good.So all of you here, droving around with Rovertym or safari steel bumpers,ENJOY,while you can ,because our laws might change eventually too.

Good luck Jack. I can provide witnesses if needed ;-) My wife is just the opposite, she WANTS me to get lights for the aframe, but its still behind a few items on my mod wish list. Not for the added functionality, just ascetics ofcourse. She says it looks incomplete with out it.
