I know on some cars the under hood insulation and engine cover actually protect the hood from overheating. Is that the case with our LR4s?

I've got a family of mice that have moved in to the under hood insulation and I would like to not only evict them, but raze their home.*

*There's a perfectly fine non- road worthy Volvo 240 in the driveway for them.

They'll be exterminated. I'd also like to remove the home from the market for the next family that climbs into the engine bay.

I just don't want to destroy the paint in the process.

Its for sound I thought. If you have a fire it might save the paint if it isn't too bad. But for the mice. Mechanical traps and peanut butter. I put mine next to the wheels on the ground so they die before they can get into trouble.

I think it's for sound also... Damn mice! I caught a few on video while I was doing my timing chains. I left the trunk open to store parts (no battery so had to stay open) and they were sitting on the rear window! Need to leave the cats in the barn for a few days!

yeah I third that. Usually if its to prevent any heat and keep it insulated there will be heat shielding. for these cars its just a design/noise insulation. for cars with a "hot V" engine where the turbos are where the intake manifold is in these cars, in the V, thats when you start to see functional heat dissipating engine covers.
