So, I've been avoiding replacing my tires on my 2000 Disco II for a long time in hopes that some one would manufacture a viable all-terrain/mud terrain for the 18in rim that came on a few of the Disco II's. I ran one bald this weekend and have no choice but to replace them now.

My knowledge of tire sizing is minimal. I'd like to go as big as possible on the 18's. (As far as going to 16 inch rims, the shop told me my rotors are too big anyway) The options on tires 255/65 18 (stock) - 265/75-18 (as large as possible) are basically non existent. BF Goodrich is making an All-Terrain T/A KO in the size of LT265/65R18/E 122R. Has anyone run these tires on the Discovery II?

I know this has been asked multiple times before and it seems like the answer is never good for people with 18’s. If only I’d gotten one of the countless other Disco’s I looked at with the regular 16’s. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You can put 16 inch rims on your disco.... lots of people have them for sale, and they came factory on thousands of D2's... Even the G4 Discos that came with factory ACE which would have had 18 inches on them came with 16 inches for tire selection purposes.

Thanks Joey, most of the info I have gathered started with you anyway, so I appreciate the reply. I think I knew deep down I'd have to switch to 16's.

I am searching as well and this is what I have found: In 18" there are several sizes in the Silenty Armor, General AT and also the Dueler tires. Check the Tirerack and query 18" AT tires. Also, if you are stateside, any tire that Discount Tire carries, if the Tirerack has if for cheaper, Discount (to keep you business), will add $10 to the TR price.

I bought Interco super swamper tires for 700.00 (5) 265/75/16
16" rims on ebay for 250.00
I sold my 18's on ebay for 200 bucks a rim (1000.00)
I made 50 bucks from doing the switch.

Trxus, I have just over 10,000 on them now and they look great still. I'll take a pic of them and post up later. I'll admit though, They suck big time on the road but they are holding up well, But if you go wheeling alot these tires rock. BTW, I got 30,000 out of my stock wranglers before they would drag me all over the road and deemed unsafe. I'll post pics of the spare that has no mi on them and pics of the tires on the road. I'm sure I'm not going to get 80,000 out of them but I'm pretty sure I will get 50 if I don't wreck them off road. Even still, if you switch to 16's and sell the 18's and get bf's your still ultimately only going to spend 300-400 bucks for the entire swap in opposed to the 300-400 PER TIRE and in time going with 16's will pay for it's self. just my thought on it. Two ways to do this, one is a hosting site like www.photobucket.com the other is to make sure the pics are jpeg and not very large.
