why is mantecs front skid almost 2x rasta's? is it THAT much better/thick/provides more coverage?
Are there any othe good front skid plates out there?

Short answer - no. Even if the thickness is 8mm vs 6mm the "better" part if minor. These plate are fabricated with a CNC metal cutter of some kind combined with a CNC plate bending machine. Once the pattern is setup, knocking these out is ridiculously easy. All that is left is to clean up the edges and remove the burs (if there are any).

FWIW - I am getting mine from a Disco3.co.uk member who is making his own. Even with him being in the UK I am saving over $100. Go fig :stupid:

Yep,British friend makes it cheaper and some say looks even better than Mantec plate.I, on the other hand , am getting a rear ladder for 237$ shipping included! I use to get angry with lack of competition for certain products in the States, but now I just laugh at it knowing that there is hope ...somewhere else. After all I am spending my own hard earned money and sure as hell don't mean to wasted lightly on companies that want to make a fortune in short amount of time, especially, when they import in large quantities.
By the way ,there is another company that is coming out with new protection plate pretty soon in GB.Check Disco3.co.uk

Where are you getting the ladder, and is it same as the one in the LR accessories catalogue? That's a great price. I want one but can't find them under $300. Too high.

It looks like the original with one difference : welds on it are superior, far better then those crappy smears on OEM,you can actually choose 3 rung or 4 rung, which IMPO looks even cooler ,sort of more complete.

thorgal, can you please put links to the ladder and front skid plate websites or maybe contact the forum member who makes them for a group buy? For $237 shipped, I'm sure many would be interested here in the rear ladder, I definitely am!

On DISCO3.co.uk forum, when you scroll down on topics , there is a group buy section, underneath a sponsors thread. The guys screen name is NEILP and he promotes a company named GNprotection.Look him up.Great guy, great prices.Recant price for a LADDER was 90 Pounds plus S/H , for a forum member.I think it is pretty affordable.I have also ordered a **** for my new bushranger x-jack.(20 pounds,i think).
What I meant by3 or 4 rung was , basically, that they sell regular 3 step ladder or special edition 4 step.IMO four step looks that much better so I bought S.E.one.
