i picked up the car, its great, love it, have to get used to driving it, its so different sitting on top of the road. When i picked up the car, the dealer offered me the Simoniz 5 plan. Is anyone familiar with this? both exterior (paint) and interrior for $599. I didn't know if its a good deal or a waste? Any thoughts? The dealer claims that you never have to wax or polish car, just wash. And the interior is worry free against spills, staining, etc. any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Um, unless you have money burning holes in your pocket, I'd say thanks, but no. Nothing in the world, short of parking your LR3 in the garage with a sealed car cover and never driving it will keep you from having to wax your paint. Anyone can apply a Scotchgard to your carpet to "repel" stains. Do a goggle search for Simonize 5 and read some reviews.

I wax my cars once a year, prolly not enough considering how much mud and grime I get in to, but it's about all I can handle.

Bottom line, you can pay a good independent detailer to due 2 details for the price of that treatment.

thats what i thought, its why i didn't agree to take it, but requested a couple of days to get back to them i wasn't really thinking about the exterior more about the interior, I have twins on the way (main reason for the purchase). My thought pattern was all the mess that they could create on the interior and they claim that the interior is guranteed or they replace it.
ps don't have money burning holes.

It costs the dealer maybe 200, the rest is pure profit. At $300, maybe it's worth it. Better yet, the outside claim is crap (never wax), so ask for an interior package only since the only reason you consider it is for the interior "guarantee" - but do you know what the reviews say? Does the company stand behind it? IF yours is tan, it could stain from juice, etc., but not until the twins grow older, maybe 1.5 years before juice should be in the car with the real mess to come as they age.
On another note, keep babies facing rearward as long as possible up to 2 years. New Federal guidelines suggest it following a detailed WI study proving body structure is not capable of handling crash loads forward until later. Most sites/seat companies still say 1 year, old view.

Audi, thanks, I will ask about interior only option. My interior is black. the dealer offered me the package only when my wife noticed there are no mats in the rare (trunk area), the mats for the back are priced at $250. She (dealer) recommended bypass the mats and go for the Simonize5 package. They will cover against spills (even wine or grape juice) and food stains. they will get it out or they will replace item for the first 5 years of coverage). I wasn't even thinking about the exterior.

I have a feeling they will not cover the interior only.

LR3_Virgin - I find the best solution to be the rubber mats. I actually cut my own third row out of a mat bought from a local generic automotive retailer (Canadian specific retailer). It was a replacement mat for a pickup truck that covers the center channel - well large enough for the LR3.

If you'd like factory rubber mats, ebay is your friend...

For $42 + shipping from an Ohio dealership....

With a black leather interior and rubber floor mats, I have never felt the need for this kind of "protection". However, the outside gets about 3 coats of paint protector every year. My paint feels like butter. Costs me about a hour each time on a Saturday, and ~$25 per bottle, which I use for a couple years at that rate. So no thanks on the dealer option.
