My sliders were fitted a couple of weeks ago and I can vouch for the fact that they are:

1) VERY heavy - I had them shipped directly to my techs.
2) VERY solid.
3) not quite as simple as the instructions would suggest to fit. They're hand made and so some 'adjustment' was required to fit them which I'm glad I didn't have to try at home.
4) they look great and you'll get more ground clearance compared to the LR side tubes.

I can post some pics at some point if I take the LR somewhere interesting over the weekend.

Great feedback, thanks.

Would love to see some pics.

I've been out of commission for about 10 days. Just getting back from my third, yes third, trip to the Great Divide with Off Roving. Another fantastic trip. Thanks again Adam.

This will be a group reply to all the various things that were asked of me above. Yes I just about did put the sliders on off the showroom floor. I only had about 2k miles on the rig when they were installed just before last year's trip to CO.

They are not the slim version. They are the regular width stage two version, which I much prefer.

I have also had both the NIttos and the Coopers, and would choose the Coopers when it comes time to buy another set. In fact, I had been saving my NIttos to put on after the Coopers wore out, but ended up selling them instead. I like that they are softer, stickier, quieter, and don't forget slighly cheeper.

I'll be sure to post a few pics of the trip. I only took about a thousand or so, along with some great high def video.

Oh, and I also put the two inch lift kit from Rovertym Engineering on for this trip. Very glad I did. The extra height made some of the more difficult obstacles almost a non issue.

OK, enough for now. Going to bed....

But I still think that you clean the bottom of your LR3 with a toothbrush ...

The shots of your sliders and underside of your rig were obscenely clean!

We got the email while we were passing through a town on the way to our next trail. Congrats on the twins! Be sure to email the name of "TBD" once you make up your minds!

Here you go. Totally gnarly off road shot in the Starbucks parking lot. It's good to keep up the LR3 Chelsea Tractor appearances. (Brit's will understand that ...).

Excuse the dirty wheels - new brakes and still breaking in. :hello:

I will echo the earlier comments about them not really being much "protection" despite the name. Jim's are a good option (he looks for any excuse to post that pic of him on Poughkeepsie )

If you want the ultimate in side protection however, you have to pay a little bit more and get the Rover Specialties sliders. OffRoving.com sells them (no I don't get a cut, just a satisfied customer). These things can support the entire weight of the vehicle and go all the way under to the frame. The kids and I use them as step with no problem as well. Lastly, they do not inhibit the ground clearance at all. Here's a couple pics.

They make them for the P38 and the RRS, but not the FFRR as far as I know.
