Hi everyone,

I have a quick question about running the A/C. I leave it on all the time and just adjust the temperature. Is this OK? I live in N. CA so it gets cool, but not cold. Does anyone else leave the A/C on all the time?

Thanks!

I leave it on all the time; it doesn't matter if it is summer or winter. The truck is smart enough to turn it off when it gets crazy cold outside, and the rest of the time its needed to either remove humidity or heat.

I'm probably a little old school. I turn it off whenever it's not needed.

David, as with everything in the car like lights, entertainment system, AC, etc....it is always a good idea to power these down before you turn the car off. I try to shut down the AC before I turn the car off . I do not leave my lights on AUto since I like to turn them off before shutting down the engine and I do not want them to come on when I start the car. There is a "rush" of current when you start the car which, in the long run (years), may damage these electronic devices. I turn the AC on when the RPMs are below 1000. You know how when you turn the car on in the morning and the RPMs run high for a few seconds. I wait until the rpms are below 1000 to turn the AC on.

I rarely use A/C, live in the fog. But when I do use it I turn it off after use. I assume it's less wear and tear.

I turned it on when I got the truck and have not turned it off ever since and probably won't ever in the future. Then again, I'm in Panama where we get 90 degrees all year long.

Hi alexcorral,

This is what I thought, as my previous vehicle it was the same. The dealer told me to leave the A/C on, as it would condition the air. I will likely leave it on as well. I have also had it on since I bought the LR4 back in February.

I leave my AC on all the time, though I adjust the temperature often. And I leave my lights on Auto. I love not having to turn these on/off manually.

baobaby -- just curious -- do you turn off the stereo/nav too every time you turn off the car?

NO. Just lights and AC.
