Can you post a pic of the Pioneer f500 install? Was it a perfect fit for the cubby up top on the SE? Looking to add this to operate future dvd screen and backup camera.

Sure, though I may not get to it until next week (heading out of town)... The fit is quite well (as well as any aftermarket that I've seen, save for the OEM replacement from China!) - it's "wedged" up under the top lip of the dash into place and doesn't move at all; I even needed to cut back the rubber mat to get a nice fit! However, like most retrofits you can tell that it's not OEM by looking at the sides where it fits against the inner part of the cubby on the left and right sides - the cubby has a slightly arched shape, and aftermarket navs are obviously quite flat.

I did need to drill a hole in the bottom of the dash cubby to keep the wires hidden, but I made it under the area where the rubber goes, so buying another rubber mat will return it to OEM look. I also needed to buy a small right angle headphone adapter/extender for the ipod/video input on the side of the unit (and rip off the cable cover on the unit) - the included cable from Pioneer could be used, but it would necessitate cutting the side of the LR3s cubby for the cable, and I'd prefer to be able to return it to stock if required. Since it was such a cheap unit, I'll probably just sell it included with the truck so this may not really be required...

The units I fitted were made by Rosen, I think they are from America somewhere. Not the cheapest but IMHO the best system around for the headrests. You need to trim the handles a little but its an easy job. The best thing about them is that the headrest actually move!

dvd headrests

Hello David

Yes I had them installed professionally took them 2 hours from start to finish which I think was very good.

They don't seem to be as squashed as the pictures of the other member whom has installed them, maybe they are not as wide as his.

Also the zip up security covers are brilliant as you don't even know they are in the disco.

I leave my car at a train station every day,so I have no worries to the prying eyes, like sellers putting flyers on the cars all the time.

Let me know if you would like the companies web site and I can give it to you, they sent me the pictures they took of mine as i dont have a didgital camera it also shows allot of the cars they have installed into not only headrests, free view, dropdowns, reversing sensors and mobile parrot hand free kits which I am getting installed next month.

Since I posted this I think i've come up with the solution I want. I actually got on carmax.com and searched for LR3s with DVD players to see what people had done. My favorite setup that I've seen is putting two smaller drop-down screens on each side of the ceiling lights/temperature controls. It's nice because you still have good rear vision. Sure, you have to buy two screens, but the smaller ones are pretty cheap as it is and from what I can tell you actually save money because you don't have to buy the dvd-player housing that fits over the lights/temperature control. (I went to a car audio/video place and they wanted $400 just to build a custom housing for the ceiling lights/temperature controls.)

Anyway, my plan is to get the two drop-down screens (just monitors, no dvd player in monitor), and connect them to a single iPod loaded with videos. DVDs are so 2000-2009 ;)

roof mount

David
I looked into the roofmount but could not have one as twin sunroofs, they said I could have one but I would loose my rear air/con controls.
there is some installed on there web site that others have chosen over the headrests I presume.
To find the company put acesdvds into Google search engine and you will find them, cant put there web site as I don't think it's in the forum rules to do that.
If you have problems finding them send me your e-mail address and I will send you a link.

I like the dual monitor setup too, but now having one monitor Im not sure how well the headliner could support the weight of two....Its just clipped on with those yellow body panel buttons. My one monitor occasionally starts to 'rattle' and I have to snap it back up. I would say that my center monitor obscures very little of my rear visibility.

That's the beauty of the headrest dvd players the view is not restricted in anyway and they are two separate players or you can watch 1 film on both screens at the same time,or 1 can play games and the other watch a film

Only issue is that roof mounted ones are soooo high for children under 10 years (even in safety seats / boosters. They get a crooked neck...

There is a full writeup with part numbers in the show of your mods thread. $300 I seem to recall.
