To Whom It May Concern:

I have recently purchased in June a LR-3 Land Rover from Land Rover of Cape Fear in Wilmington NC. My reason for purchasing a Land Rover was because they have a reputation for being durable and safe vehicles, per my sales person Tom Jacobs. I travel approximately 30 miles to work one way and thought that I was purchasing a safe and trustworthy vehicle for long distance travel. On October 7, 2006, I was on my way to go shopping when I noticed that my car was driving different and I could smell what was like burning rubber. I stopped the car and a friend checked my tires to see what or if anything was wrong with my tires. On the inside of all four Goodyear tires the wires were exposed so bad that my friend advised me not to drive it due to a possible blow out causing an accident. At this time, I only had 12,500 miles on the odometer. I called roadside assistance with my cell phone and they came and picked the car up. I was unable to get a rental car since it was on Saturday so I had to borrow a car until Monday at 4:00 pm. The LR-3 was towed to the dealership and was inspected by the service department. After my car was inspected I spoke with Tom Jacobs, sales person and AJ, Manger they informed me that they had been having trouble with the LR-3 eating out the tires and that they were not sure what was causing the problem. They said that Land Rover had sent them different guidelines to balance the tires and that should correct the problem. No one has contacted me to bring my car in for evaluation. AJ, the manager, informed me that they would not fully replace the defective tires. I had to pay for half of the tires even though I have bumper to bumper warranty on a 2006 vehicle. This problem was not addressed before purchasing this car. If I had been made aware of this issue I certainly would have purchased a different car. I feel that information was withheld from me just to make a sale. Truly, these tires should have been replaced at no charge since they were defective. This is clearly defective merchandise which was purchased in good faith from Land Rover of Cape Fear. If you as a customer has had a similar problem with Land Rover please feel free to call me 910-840-7680, together we can stand. Thanking you for your time, I am.
