I'm new to the Land Rover world and I have a 2006 LR3 HSE. with 50,000 miles on it. I purchased it two weeks ago and I would like to give her the first oil change. I've always performed my own oil changes but I am a little hesitant to do this on the LR3. Any tricks or tips? Last thing I want is a trip to the dealership, as am in SUDAN-Africa now where it really HOT over 40 most of the time . Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you've ever changed your oil in any car in the last 100 years, this is just as obvious. You have a couple skid plates to take off, but the oil filter is where it should be and the drain plug is where it should be. If you buy one of those socket type oil filter wrenches it will be easier to get the filter off, but it can still be done with a strap wrench. If you want pictures and video, I'm sure there's a hundred or so videos on you tube.

Not sure if you have Home Depot in Sudan, but I used a 5-gallon Home Depot bucket to support the large skid plate while I removed the 13mm bolts. The bucket is also perfect to catch the 8 quarts/liters of oil you will drain out.

I also found it helpful to put the LR3 up on ramps. I used the heavy duty Rhino ramps if you have access to buy those online.
