I don't have them, but I have fondled them. They are a very cleanly executed, solid design. They are similar to the standard bar stock sliders like HighCountry, SG, RoverTyme, etc... but much better executed in design and finish. Almost too pretty, because scratches are noticeable when you rub 'em against rocks.

They do not protect the compressor or tank, and they are only under the door sill, so the potential of tweaking your truck body is still there on a really solid thump, but they will very effectively handle any threat to the bottom of the door, provided that you choose your line carefully...and dont' slip :)

So in reality you might as well buy some of these...

http://www.gnvehicleprotection.co.uk/d3sill.htm

I had a pair of those (or darn similar, from Rasta). I think the OE ones are much more stout. I bent the alumumin plate sliders, and it transmitted that bend into my door sill.

In general, I like the RS product so much more because there are some important cables routed down through that door sill. Denting it, and potentially pinching or damaging that wire harness is basically cause to send the LR3/D3 to the junkyard for recycling.

I really don't see how that matters? An impact can occur on the easiest of trails. One difficult breakover angle, awkward rock, or troublesome tree root is all it takes. A trail can be rated a 2 out of 10, but still have one minor threat that a moment of inattentiveness will lead to a permanent memory of the event.

Back in the early days for me, on the easiest part of an easy trail. Oops!
Objects on ground are nearer than they appear!

Here's another. An easy part of the trail, but a slightly wrong line and he ran out of ground clearance:

Awesome! I LOVE how many products are finally coming to market for the LR3. It's about darn time. Competition is good.

Here is an observation though: Those new slider/side step combo's appear to put a lot of cantilevered force on the side of the door sill. How thoroughly tested are they? I can assure you that the RS sliders can take it, and have, countless times. I have had my entire truck bearing on one slider, with all 4 wheels off the ground (it was not an intentional maneuver!), and nothing happened other than a bit of concern for those inside the cabin, driver included!

Going back to my first statement, what ever happened to Uncle Ray's sliders? Are they still on the market? I haven't been on Disco3.uk.co in quite a while.....

got it . . . $1250-$1350 is worth it for the heavy protection . . .

thinking of having mild protection . . . don't know if I want to remove the compressor cover and increase cabin noise (anyone have an idea by how much) req'd for the RS babies
