It's killing me that I have 16 months left on my current lease and can't get out of it and into a V8 now.......Maybe one of our nice forum members needs a new yacht and can enable me to afford another SUV in the stable! My fingers are crossed that they will offer some form of V8, but am feeling less and less positive that they will.
Is your current lease a Land Rover? Sorry if you mentioned it before. My lease still had 14 months left and the dealership paid it off and gave me a few thousand additional trade-in value because the pay off was quite low. I know Land Rover leases are high, but it helps you get out of it early. BMW and Mercedes leases are a lot harder to get out of for sure - I once tried when I had my BMW. The payoff was NUTS.

You may be able to use one of the leasing transfer websites online and post your current vehicle. I know a couple of people who used them and it worked out very well that it was transferred to a new person.

Unfortunately it's not a LRNA lease, though I've checked and based on my research could get out of the lease as today's buyout is well below wholesale value..reality is that I've putting life back together after four years of starting a new business and losing $1m+ each year for the last six years, so vehicles are just basic transportation right now...good news is that the horizon is getting brighter and as long as things stay level (growth in our economy would be a MAJOR plus) I should be able to re-coup my losses in the next 18-24 months or so (though windfalls in my business can happen overnight)...I read the WSJ each day and cringe when I see that growth is still nil and GDP is dropping....things will get better and I'll be back in the fold...for now I just lurk. learn and wait!

Hey David... there was a swarm of '14 RRS driving around the city today... some sort of press junket or something. Anyway, the ones I saw were base models. I have a video of a black one... but too lazy to post it. It was okay, oddly, it looked smaller in person. More Evoque than I would have imagined. I wasn't blown away. But pretty excited I got to see them in the flesh. I'm sure the Lux and/or more loaded models will be more appealing. We'll see. I'm grateful I pulled the trigger on my '13 though.

Very cool! That's like when I saw the Nara Bronze 2013 RR being driven off a transport truck on El Camino Real (yeah, just pulled over the side of the road) in San Carlos before they were released. I have no doubt that the 2014 RRS is brilliant as far as engineering, quality of trim, but I just can't get past the soft Evoque-like design. I am curious to see one in person, as the 2013/14 RR looks a bit different to me in person than in photos.

I don't blame you for being grateful, as I think the 2013 model year (for both the RRS and LR4) is a great buy because the V8 is a great and reliable engine. Plus, we still have that iconic design and heritage we love.

My neighbor has a Silver 2004 Disco II MINT with only 24,000 miles on her. She's 100% loaded, the push bar, the driving lamps, the old-school, REAL LR goodies... I think it's called an Adventure package or something. Nonetheless, it's absolutely beautiful and I yearn for it everyday when I see him pull her out of the garage. That says a lot about the "classic" designs of LRs (of the past.) It's a true testament not to change the formula too much. I think the new gen FFRR is pretty classic and I've grown to really love it. The new RRS, not so sure. It's a bit rounded and smooth and soft and subtle and very, well... uninspiring at the moment. I think a good face-lift and update (in two or three-years) will help. The first iteration of the RRS wasn't stellar either... and it wasn't until the 2010 refresh did I truly, yearn for it.

One thing I'm really hoping for, now that LR can spend some time focusing on accessories, is that they begin offering some off-road dressings for the FFRR and Sport. I can only imagine what you could do with some special packages as well. I think LR must do this to retain their "can go anywhere, world traveler" mystique.

Of course your guess is as good as mine but it looks like from the close-up spy shots that the redesigned headlight fits in the same cut-out as the 2013 models....so maybe it would be an aftermarket upgrade for 2013 owners. That is, if anybody cares enough to go that route. Then again, who knows what sort of different wiring/computer coding would have to be upgraded. Considering waiting for the 2014...especially if the V8 is still an option on the LUX.

This is the first time I heard that they might offer the 5.0 V8 on the Lux model. Did you read that anywhere or is it just wishful thinking? I wonder if they will offer the SC V8 as an option if the SC V6 is really coming for 2014.

I know I am very curious to see what will really pan out for 2014! Knowing Land Rover, we won't know until the last minute and their website build options won't come until winter - hehe! :)

Sorry, I read it on one of those spy blogs so of course it (8 cylinder) could be 100% false. Either way, I'm buying a 2013.

The thing is, after 2014, I don't think there are ANY cars in the the Jag/LR lines that will use the NA 5.0L V8.

They surely won't keep the engine in production just as an option for the US market LUX.

They will also be phasing out of the 6-speed, so now you are talking about going through the work of making some other transmission work with the V8. Then they have to spend money federalizing it. No way.

IMO, the fact that they are moving to the SC V6 on the LR4 with just 1-2 years left means they are committed to killing the NA V8.

I think it is more likely that the SC V8 would be offered, but that is not going to happen. Too pricey and reserved for the RR cash cows.
