Hi,
I'm new to the Range Rover family and recently purchased a 2004 HSE. I bought it second hand and knew that there were some small things that needed fixing, but now I'm scared that something serious may be wrong.
At the time of buying (3 days ago), I knew that:
1) the valve cover gasket had a small leak.
2) there was a small coolant leak. (the mechanic thought from a hose and seemed sure not from somewhere else).
Here's the new problem:
While driving today, the Check Coolant Level warning came on. While driving, the temp gauge went a little over the middle mark but went no farther-- I thought everything was OK. I checked the coolant level when I got home and was shocked to see that the reservoir seemed empty of liquid. In it however were white chunks that smelled like coolant. What could be the matter?
Is it possible that the low levels of coolant and the white chunks could be from the coolant leak? Or is it possible that the poor car has a blown head gasket and oil is mixing with the coolant? (It makes my stomach sink to type that!).
What should I do?
