Friday night I hit railroad tracks and my headlights instantly blew out, my battery light came on and my voltage jumped from 14.1V to !8.8V. I hit my high beams and they blew, so used my auxiliary lights and one of them blew. The other stayed lit. The scanguage read 18.8 volts the whole way home. The next morning the battery's dead, so I charged it up and here's where I'm at. There are no fuses blown, disco starts right up and scanguage reads 18.8 V while running and the battery light is on. Stopped disco and disconnected the negative terminal and put a voltmeter between the negative cable and the negative terminal. It reads a steady 12.1 Volts. Battery drain of course, so with this set-up I pulled each fuse and the voltage never dropped. I've inspected every ground I can find without a problem. Could this be within the alternator/voltage regulator? Amy help is really appreciated!
