Anyone know if it is possible just to get the memory module and connect it to an SE to have at least Key specific memory settings on the seats and mirrors?? I've heard that the seat needs to be replace, but I have the space under mine and the connectors that I assume would be used in that module just tucked under my seat.

Good question -
I know how to get you a powered lumbar kit or heated seat kit from an OEM vendor, but this would be all factory parts, I presume. Maybe a junked HSE? Keep us posted if you learn more, but I would start by asking a dealer if they can do it - then you'll know if you can DIY!

Well it has been harder than I thought. Dealer just makes no sense...They say the seat has to be changed and that the wiring needs to be installed, but coming from them I really am not surprised. They wanted to charge $700+ for pads on 22k miles...and after inspecting closer still have half of the pads!! :stupid:

Most manufacturers of high end cars have always included all the wiring in the vehicles and LR is no different. Followed the shematics and the wires are there. Also the brackets to mount them are there too. It is just a matter of attaching the unit and then enabling the configuration to be available on the instrument panel display...

Well have been trying to find a junk HSE but it just seems that these things are not that easy to find..Will keep everyone posted.

That may be the case. It was with items I have added to my base model LR3. However, it is likely you will need the dealer's T4 Testbook computer (or a good independent LR repair shop) to configure and enable the settings once you find the hardware.

Update

It’s been some time… and now on my second LR3 I am definitely going to approach this upgrade. I looked at the electrical diagram and no surprise, the wiring that needs to be there is completely different for the MOTORS, witch is a good thing, that means that the motors could be swapped or a track with memory seat could be installed. Hopefully there is no need to change seats.

What I have already purchased:

Memory Module ECM 49.99 eBay find NEW
Memory Switch 39.99 eBay Find NEW

Still Missing are the motors or Track with memory option. I have found a track for the passenger side with Memory option that shows the Memory ECM on it, but the ECM should be under the Drivers Side. Maybe a UK vehicle...??? Also missing are the power mirrors with memory, but that would be a stretch as the wiring to the door has to be replaced.

The main difference between the non Memory and the Memory motors is the circuitry that tells this small ECM the Position of the gears, wonder if the gears have a separate connector???

Oh well back to the drawing board. I will keep updating the post from time to time as the project will probably take some time.

Other interesting ideas:

DVD player for kids using the mounting bracket for the hinge of the center cooler box
Upgrade Harman\Kardon to Logic7 13 speakers from 6cd High Line Head unit (I think that could be accomplished fairly easy as the Amp is what dictates the programming if I’m not mistaken)

You may ask why.... It's the DIY factor... :proud:

Any update??

AlmaX,
I am about to try the same DIY project on my 2006 LR3 with power seats. I have purchased the following:

Memory Module ECM
Memory Switch

Did you complete you project and can you provide any more advice?

Well, 2 kids and 2 LR's later I had no time to complete my mod. Sold the 2007 a while back as i found a good deal on a 2010 LR4, this time I got the Lux Plus so all the bells and wistles came with it. I still have some components left around, but my 2007 SE had all the wiring needed to do the swap, I had found and sold already the tracks with the Memory seat motors in them so you will probably need them to finish your Mod. Good luck!!
