As you may know, my wife and I are in the market for a used LR3. We have catagorized colors in order of desire and while Silver is about 4th on the list, there is a silver one that has popped up with the luxury package. So my question is, do these generally sell quicker? Is the luxury package all that? I don't care for the cooler box, but I do like the adapative headlights unless they are prone to issues. Is the audio system upgraded?

Finally, can you turn off the cooler box in the center console? I don't see us using that feature much, if at all.

Time is on our side while we're looking here, but I wonder how often a luxury package jumps up and should we jump on it or hold out for a color of higher preference? Thanks!

I guess it depends where you are located. Last year my wife and I bought a used 06 LR3 HSE V8 version with the 7 seats. Only had around 20K miles on it. It has the Luxury package. The cooler box has a switch you can turn on or off. The adaptive headlights are great. Has front and rear heated seats. Navigation. Harmon Kardon (top sound system), sounds good. Leather is nice. front and rear parking sensors, Ours is white with tan interior.

As far as do they sell quicker just depends on the whole package and condition of the truck. I know we looked around alot and I ended up putting a $1000 deposit down for the white with tan interior v8 HSE that we knew the company had coming in within the next month or so. It was hard for us to find one in good condition with low miles that had the tan interior. I dealt with Bob at www.texascarsdirect.com. They have very high quality vehicles and they are all stored indoors. Very easy to deal with. Basically the price on the inventory is the price you pay.

It's a buyers' market, I wouldn't be too worried about a pre-owned 3 ton SUV with a V8 "selling quick" these days.

Just checked cars.com and there are 21 available in my area alone. If you are not pressed for time, you may want to continue to wait for the right one.

Thanks guys. I am located in CO where 4WD SUV's seem to do quite well here and with winter approaching... The condition of the rig seems to be nice from the pictures. It is a certified vehicle, so it's been gone thru and it's located 1.5hrs away. We've been looking for probably a month now, maybe more. I am not opposed to wait a while longer, but I hate to have to settle for one of the same color without the lux package because we didn't jump on it. There is one at a local dealer that has nearly everthing we want expect for it is also silver and no lux pakcage. I'd like the tow package as well, but not a problem to add if/when we need it. This one located 1.5hrs away is the closest to our wants as we have seen so far. I am content with waiting longer, just hate to see the best one get away.

Thanks for the info!

We looked for awhile explicitly for an HSE with the Lux package.

For reasons previously stated... it's a buyers market. We tend to hold vehicles for awhile, so I wanted one with as close to every option I could find.

We also wanted the tan interior, and settled on our 3rd choice color.

On the secondary mkt, these options dont hold much value at all. All of the HSE's we looked at were priced very closely, whether or not they had the lux package.

The adaptive headlights are great, actually work very well. And the cooler box comes in handy as well, with a 2yr old and at least one more on the way.

Lastly, when it comes time to sell... Fully loaded trucks seem to move faster than those with less options. When they are priced about the same, most people tend to buy the one with more stuff. : )

Last point... I didnt contact the dealer about our current truck until it was listed for at least 2 weeks online, and had already gone through 1 "price reduction".

I set up an appt to drive it, negotiated a touch further, and bought it that day.

The dealer told me 4 other people called after we had finalized the deal, but before I picked it up.

So, as for selling fast... I think it always has to do with appropriate pricing. If it's priced right, someone will buy it.

jpljpl - I find that they are all priced very similar as well, regardless of options. Which is good for us. I don't see any dates as to when this one was listed, but it's actually cheaper, with less miles, then it's near twin at the local dealership.

You sound farther along in your search, but what I did in the beginning was setup a couple of automatic searches at autotrader, carmax, cars.com...

Then you can get notified automatically whenever there is a new listing that meets your search criteria. It seemed to work reasonably well for me. You can get a decent pulse of your local market just by watching the current listings.

Because we wanted an HSE, there were never to many to keep track of. And any new listings or price changes were pretty clearly marked.

But, if you found the truck you want, with just about every option, priced cheaper than comparables... You sound like your near the end of your search.

LIke everyone said.. it's all about the timing. I was searching for a few months before I found my 05 Silver HSE with Tan interior. I got everything but the coolerbox (which I didnt need, besides, I have one of those coolers that can plug into the socket..instead, it came with some running boards..better than nothing I guess). I wanted Silver because in my experience, when a silver car is dirty..it still looks good and scratches dont really show. I was about to settle for a blue 07 SE with the basics..then an 06 with low mileage but gold.. and then along came my baby... s'been good ever since.
