Both previous posts make good points, Have your Battery tested a weak one will work in warm weather but sucks in the cold! And these things are as Taylor made pointed out rolling computers. It gets to -20C here in Canada regularly and weak battery will show every day! An other trick I’ve found is if battery is good I turn key to position 1 and allow time usually till it stops dinging 10-15 seconds before going to start position 2 seems to allow electronics time to fire up and run its scans, when the wife drives no patience lol defaults show up! Performing my ritual corrects the issues usually thou.
I like what you say re taking time between 1 and 2. I would say that suggests a weak battery as it takes more time that it perhaps should for the computers to spin up. I think LR's computers to not have very good voltage adapters from 12VDC to the 5VDC that computers run on. As such, any low voltage in the battery is magnified in the computers - should not be but ...
About twice a year, every night I put my 3 on a CTEK battery retainer for about two weeks of nights. It takes about that length of time to get the battery back up to near full charge.
You can drive the freeways 7/24/365 and the battery will never get above 80% State of Charge - that does not make sense, but it is just the way it is.
The jpg is the gear shift lever kit - the bits rust, (see doc), and get hard to move. Fortunately, it is a do it yourself change out but not easy if all rusted. The part number is LR012704.
