LRnewbie11,

They're standard H11 bulbs, they will work on any car! There's no difference then one stopping at an autoparts store and getting ANY replacement bulb regardless of brand. It's just a bulb replacement. And if this helps you, the original OE bulbs that are provided by LR at the factory are in fact Philips brand (made in Germany) just of lesser output quality.

I wish I made a video to show how to replace - but it takes so much time and I have a little one who takes up most of my time.

If you decide on getting the bulbs, as David mentioned, there are many here that'll help walk you through the install process. It's pretty easy actually, seems scary at first, but once you get started, you'll find it brilliant... and also feel really good when done. It's so rewarding doing stuff like this. :)

I did post a YouTube video on changing the bulbs in an LR3 which is identical to what you would do for an LR4. It is located in a previous thread about the CV bulbs. I think the thread was called" halogen bulb upgrade highly recommended."

Thanks. I have the HSE with 7 seat comfort pkg and climate pkg so no HID low beams and no HID fog lights. The other potential problem is that I am leasing the truck so I'm wondering if it is wise to replace the bulbs on a leased vehicle. I guess I can always put the other ones back in when I turn the truck in at the end of the lease. One more question... when you switch these bulbs out does that trigger the warning light on the control panel? By the way how are these so cheap because I was seeing these kits go for like $250 and up.

I love the truck and this board has already been a big help. Can't wait to learn more about the truck and the LR culture in general.
LRNewbie,

I also lease my LR4 and I changed out the low beam, fogs, and high beams. If you are doing the low beams, it's just as easy to do the high beams (H7s) because they are in the same lighting unit, just a different section. Very easy! You can certainly change your bulbs on a leased vehicle, as it is only the lightbulb and as baobay stated, you are NOT upgrading to HID lights, that is expensive and I believe voids part of the warranty in the LR4... I would not recommend doing that at all. You are fine changing out the bulbs.

You and I have the exact same LR4, as mine is the HSE with climate comfort and 7 seater as well. Awesome!

Seriously, let me know if you need specific help.

PS
There is NO warning light that comes on, etc. when you change them. As the count said, it is just as if your OEM Philips lights burnt out and you changed them, it does nothing to the warranty or effect your lease in anyway. I was REALLY nervous when I first decided to do the upgrade and now I am so happy I took the plunge and did it... It was lots of fun and the best money I have spent. You are only replacing the lightbulb.

LRNewbie,

Yes, this video was very helpful. Just a few things that are different on the LR4 (actually much better than the LR3) is that there are only 4 tabs on top of the grill to unlock it. You do need to pull kinda hard to get the bottom out, but it does come out if you apply firm, even pressure. I found the tabs can be a bit tough to get up on the light units, but if you use a screwdriver with cloth wrapped around it to shimmy them up, it works really well. Just hold the light and line up the holes and it comes off so easy.

The BIG difference with the LR4 is that there is no silly metal paperclip looking clips that hold the light in place, you basically just put it into the bay and turn to snap it into place. The LR3 video that baobay posted shows the LR3 metal clip holders that keep the light bulb in place, but the LR4 does not have that, so it makes it MUCH MUCH easier to sit the bulb in the slot and just turn it into place.

Seriously, I am the dumbest person when it comes to anything like this, but I found changing the low beams and high beams so easy. In fact, I took it apart twice because I got my high beams later. The fog lights were just as easy, but just be sure to pull firm and even on the fog light caps, use a long hexagonal screw driver, and order the three screws in the correct order they came out. In addition, and this is IMPORTANT, once you take off the fog caps, tape up the holes as it is very easy to lose screws and I have no clue how you would get them out since they seem to go inside the front bumper somewhere.

Send me a note if you need further help, as I can make a quick video or call you on the phone. Best of luck!

Hey Count,

I agree! It really is lots of fun changing out the bulbs, as I did the low beams first and then did my fogs and high beams later. Once you are done, there is definitely a feeling of accomplishment when you see the lows, highs, and fogs on and it's that awesome white light. The low beams and fogs look BRILLIANT from the front at night and really look identical to actual HID lights. In fact, I mentioned before I was parked near a new X5 with HIDs and noticed mine were just as nice.

Now I am thinking of getting some new mats, as right now I use some non-specific mats on top of my factory mats. It's a good fit, but I want to get the official LR ones that fit perfect.

Hope you are having a good week!
