Hi and thank you for allowing me into your forum. Have a 2005 LR3 SE with a knocking noise in LH front which I am assuming is a control arm bush. Is it a DIY prospect or dealer because of air bag complications? Just buy the bush or whole control arm if DIY?

Welcome to the forum... this is more of a tech question. I will copy this to the LR3 section so you can get more responses.

It is a dealer fix unless you have the proper tools. I suggest you buy the whole lower contol arms as they have new style ball joints attached.

There was also a TID for the steering rack, which you should have checked as well, as that can also cause a knocking sound which transmits up the steering wheel. The control arms are not an easy DIY, because it nearly always requires an alignment of the suspension, which means 4 wheel alignment.

Thanks for that. I'm picking up on the fact that it's simpler to replace the whole lower control arm. Have now confirmed that it is the rear bushing on both sides. Ugh!
