Today I worked in the LR - focusing on cleaning up the gunk in the throttle body (which solved my idle hunt and low speed to acceleration stumble issue - thank you to this site)

Anyway, after I took the beauty cover off the engine I immediately noticed an open ended 1/4" hose sitting just above intake downstream of the throttle body. Then I noticed a capped "T" fitting with one of the "T's" missing. Picked it up to inspect and the other side of the "T" disintegrated in my hand.

Here's a photo. It appears to be related to what looks like the upper coolant (thermostat) overflow?

In any case - it's toast and needs to be replaced. Anyone know if this is source-able or replaced with a reasonable facsimile?

My Googling is turning up absolutely nothing other than elbows and random fittings.

Thanks in advance for any guidance and info.

Yup, that's the coolant bleed valve. Mine disintegrated too, but while I was driving. Very very common problem since the plastic gets so brittle with the heat cycles. Some have replaced it with a brass straight through, which is what I had to do temporarily, but i found it very difficult to bleed the system like this.

99% of fixing something is knowing what it's called. Thanks for the quick reply...finding all sorts of info on the intertubes now. Looks like I'm off to the LR Shop to pick up a part in the morning.

Thanks all. Picked up the part today at our [sort of] local LR dealership today. I'm betting this will be the least expensive part I ever buy at the dealership.

Installed, coolant topped up and everything working perfectly.

Part number?

The jpg is appreciated; could you post the part number as well.

Others may be wise to purchase one as well and either put it in their spares kit or just replace it. The tee is one of those guaranteed to fail items - the question is merely when.

LR Part Number: LR027661G

Personally, I plan to upgrade to the brass version posted by srschick ASAP and keep the plastic as a spare.
