marketing ploy or not, this is good to hear.

With all the great offroad capability of the rover, in the back of my mind I always know that HDC fault or some other sensor gremlin is a risk. Not a lot you can do on the trail but restart and while I don't get it a lot, I have gotten it at inopportune times!

Last time I was several miles down a soft sand beach, got the fault, and drug my tranny back along the beach just hoping I didn't get stuck. I think this one reset itself with a couple power cycles. I forget, but it made me nervous...

All that said, I doubt I'd ever have the rod mod with me or the skill to install it on trail. So I suppose it is a moot point for me. :)

It's easy to install, Todd. Most soft faults aren't a big deal unless they either happen mid-obstacle or can't be re-booted. HDC wouldn't mean **** if you lost it. Suspension is the MAIN thing. Even Terrain Response wouldn't be that big of a deal. So you're wheelin' open-diff, big deal, you can get home.

I carry spare rods and sensors.

I agree with houm wa in that hdc falt is not that big of a problem, I still had low range and command shift even though it didn't show on the control panel but suspension was the real problem. that was gone. Rods are easy to put on it takes 5or 10 min at the most.

Was it the brake light switch on the pedal? I went back through old notes on the subject and not sure what the break light sensor would be. The switch is known as a possible cause for this issue.

yes, the brake switch is a common fault of many modern cars. Its mounted to pedal under the dash (at least in my last two cars).

This story actually sounds like a good ad for adjustable arms that could eek out a few more inches out of the suspension. ;-)
